Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Matthew Lombardo present the Barrington Stage production of Becoming Dr. Ruth with Debra Jo Rupp as Dr. Ruth Westheimer at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale from tonight, April 16 through Sunday, April 20. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 31for the acclaimed Mark St. Germain play, which is directed by Julianne Boyd and is part of the WinterStage Series at the Parker Playhouse. The production comes direct from New York and will be produced by Michael Alden, Stefany Bergson and Rodger Hess.

Virginia Repertory Theatre revealed the new titles for the 2014/15 Season with a public announcement at the November Theatre last evening. The announcement marks Bruce Miller and Phil Whiteway's 40th season as Artistic Director and Managing Director. Miller reflects on this milestone, "I'm proud to be announcing my 40th season as Artistic Director. The 18 shows that comprise Virginia Rep's 2014/15 roster include several of my favorite comedies, dramas and musicals. In celebration of the 50th off-Broadway performance of Becoming Dr. Ruth, Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer will host a special book signing session and talkback at off-Broadway's Westside Theatre (407 W. 43rd Street), on Wednesday, November 27.

Westheimer will host a special book signing session at off-Broadway's Westside Theatre (407 W. 43rd Street), home of Becoming Dr. Ruth, on Wednesday, November 27 following 2:00PM performance (3:45 - 4:30PM) and prior to the 7:00PM performance (5:30 - 6:15PM).

Producers Michael Alden, Stefany Bergson and Rodger Hess have announced a special talkback series at Becoming Dr. Ruth, featuring America's favorite sex therapist, Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer, following select Wednesday evening performances. These special talkbacks will take place October 30, November 6, 13, 20 and December 18, and are complimentary to ticketholders for these performances.

Rupp's power-house performance captures Ruth so effectively and in such detail, that we're convinced the much shorter, German accented woman must really be on stage.
