42nd Street Moon to Host JUBILATE! 25th Anniversary Gala

San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon (Daren A.C. Carollo and Daniel Thomas, Co-Executive Directors), currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary in continuous operation, has announced that the company's 2018 Gala, JUBILATE!, will be headlined by Moon favorite Klea Blackhurst (42nd Street Moon's RED, HOT AND BLUE and CALL ME MADAM) and will feature special guest star Liz Callaway (Broadway's MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, BABY and MISS SAIGON).

What do you do when an author dies before his work is finished? You make it into a 'choose your own adventure' musical of course! Audience goers get the rare experience of choosing not only the murderer, but also which lovers end up together and who plays the detective in the Actors Theatre of Indiana's production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Charles Dickens never had the chance to let readers know how he would've wrapped up the novel, but now we can all try our hand at solving the mystery.

Saint Sebastian Players Announce 38th Season

The Saint Sebastian Players (SSP) announce the company's 38th season: a musical mystery with multiple endings, a world premiere romance and a comic yet bittersweet look at women's relationships and wardrobes. Performances take place at SSP's home in the lower level of St. Bonaventure, 1625 W. Diversey (entrance on Marshfield), Chicago. Starting this season, SSP is changing its evening performance times to 7:30 p.m.

BWW Review: CURTAINS at Oyster Mill Playhouse

Curtains by John Kander, Fred Ebb, Rupert Holmes, and Peter Stone is a murder mystery wrapped up in the trappings of a romantic comedy. When it premiered at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, Curtains received mixed reviews. However, in 2007 the show opened on Broadway and received eight Tony Award nominations. Curtains presents the audience with a show within a show. This musical whodunit explores the lives, loves, and lies of the cast and crew of a musical called 'Robbin' Hood' who find themselves suspects in a murder investigation when their leading lady is killed backstage. The curtains opened on Curtains at Oyster Mill Playhouse on April 20, 2018.

The Friars archives and Wikipedia have finally been corrected. Nineteen Eighty Eight was a watershed year for women. They gained membership to numerous private men's clubs that heretofore were off limits to women. The Friars, being one of the more famous of the bunch had an article heralding the event written by a less than factual reporter for The New York Times. The paper of record, in an early forerunner of fake news only listed the first 7 women and overlooked number 8...Jamie deRoy who was in that initial group, along with Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers, Brooke Shields, and other prominent female entertainment figures was not mentioned.

A stellar cast of Broadway's finest performers will be on hand Wednesday, April 11, when The New York Friars Club honors show business tour de force Jamie deRoy at a celebration marking her 30th anniversary as one of the Club's first eight female members. The event, Jamie deRoy, 30 Years a Friar, will be at The Friars Club, 57 East 55th Street, starting at 6 PM for cocktails, 7 PM for dinner and 8:30 PM for the show.

THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD at Wright State University

Wright State University Theatre concludes its 43rd season in the Festival Playhouse with the Tony Award-winning musical: The Mystery of Edwin Drood, running from March 15th - April 8th. The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a musical inspired by the unfinished novel by Charles Dickens. Drood became a Broadway smash hit, winning Tony's for Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score - all by Rupert Holmes in a tour-de-force creation.

Don't Tell Mama Presents A SKITCH IN TIME: MY FRIENDSHIP with Maestro Skitch Henderson

Singer Lynn Henderson returns to Don't Tell Mama this spring with A Skitch in Time: My Friendship with Maestro Skitch Henderson, a tribute to the New York Pops founder who built the Pops from an idea to a beloved international institution. The two Hendersons, who are not related, met and bonded over music at a benefit dinner in Connecticut, where they both lived at the time. Skitch assisted Lynn, who was Chairnan of Deck The Halls benefits for New Milford Hospital, by bringing his New York Pops All Stars to Connecticut. He mentored Lynn as she created a show about his friend, Cole Porter, for a local club with a cast ranging in age from five to eighty five. Later, Lynn and her musicians brought her cabaret shows to Hunt Hill Farm - the cooking school, store and gallery which were the Connecticut home of Skitch and his smart, dazzling wife, Ruth. A Skitch in Time: My Friendship with Maestro Skitch Henderson is directed by Klea Blackhurst, with Musical Direction by Douglas J. Cohen. Bob Sabin will play bass.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Join HENRY IV at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (SCLA), under the artistic direction of Ben Donenberg, returns to The Japanese Garden on the West Los Angeles VA Campus with a new production - 'Henry IV' - condensing two of Shakespeare's plays and staged by Tony Award winning director Daniel Sullivan.  The world-class acting company includes Tom Hanks as Falstaff and Rita Wilson; with additional cast members to be announced shortly, as confirmed.  Tom Ware is the executive producer.
