The Kennedy Center Announces 50th KCACTF National Festival

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the National Festival. These student artists from across the United States have been recognized for their outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 8 through February 28, 2019.

Star-Studded Extravaganza Raises $80,000 For TheatreZone

TheatreZone announces that its inaugural AllStars of TheatreZone fundraiser on Jan. 25 starring Tony Award-winner Rupert Holmes raised $80,000 for the non-profit performing arts organization. Ralph and Billie Hazelbaker were presented with the first AllStars of TheatreZone Award for their long-time support or the organization.

Tupelo Community Theatre Presents A TIME TO KILL

Tupelo Community Theatre will present A Time To Kill, adapted for the stage by Rupert Holmes, March 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. and March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre.  This riveting drama tells the story of Carl Lee Hailey, who shoots two men in the very courthouse where he now stands trial.  Defense attorney Jake Brigance sees Hailey's act of vengeance against the racist men's attack on his daughter as a desperate bid for justice and he's willing to risk everything to defend his client's life. As the trial heats up, the community is torn apart in this gripping adaptation of Mississippi native John Grisham's best-selling novel about race, crime, and family in small-town America.  The play is rated R for adult language and incendiary dialogue about race that some patrons may find offensive.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and go on sale at Noon on February 25 by calling the TCT box office at 844-1935.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Actor/playwright/cabaret entertainer, Tony nominee and two-time MAC Award winner Charles Busch appears in a musical entertainment that gets to the essence of this legendary theatrical figure. Through an eclectic songbook from the seventies and early eighties, Busch unfolds an outrageously comic yet also poignant tale of his early years striving to find a place for himself in show business. GOLDSTEIN is Now Available for Licensing Through Steele Spring Stage Rights

Steele Spring Stage Rights, the licensing company that represents The Marvelous Wonderettes, has just acquired the licensing and theatrical performance rights to the off-Broadway musical about a family and its complicated history with a book by Charlie Schulman and music and lyrics by Michael Roberts.
