Oil Lamp Theater Presents BEAU JEST

Executive and Artistic Director, Keith Gerth and Associate Artistic Director, Stephen Smith of the Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview announce their next production, the witty and heartwarming comedy Beau Jest - subtitled "A comedy about the entire family" - by James Sherman. This production is directed by Oil Lamp Theater veteran Elizabeth Mazur Levin and will be performed from May 23rd through July 7th 2019 at 1723 Glenview Road in Glenview.

MUSIC OF CONSCIENCE To Conclude New York Philharmonic Season

The New York Philharmonic will conclude the 2018-19 subscription season with Music of Conscience, May 22-June 8, 2019,three weeks of concerts and events exploring the ways in which composers have used music to respond to the social and political issues of their times. Music Director Jaap van Zweden will conduct all three orchestral programs: the World Premiere of David Lang's opera prisoner of the state, a retelling of Beethoven's Fidelio; John Corigliano's Symphony No. 1, his 'personal response to the AIDS crisis'; and Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony, about his struggles under Stalin, alongside Beethoven's Eroica Symphony, originally dedicated to Napoleon until the composer angrily redacted the inscription.

Lincoln Center to Host MIDSUMMER NIGHT SWING

Today, Lincoln Center announced the 30th season of Midsummer Night Swing, celebrating the rich diversity of New York City with a wide range of sounds and dance styles from Tuesday, June 25, to Saturday, July 13, 2019. Fifteen nights of outdoor dance lessons and performances under the stars-covering genres like swing, rhythm & blues, ballroom, tango, salsa, and forro-bring to life the timeless magic of summer in the city.

Patchogue Theatre Announces Two New Board Members

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) recently announced that Michael Rubenstein and Roger Smithhave joined the volunteer board of directors for the not-for-profit, 1100 seat venue that in December celebrated 20 years since the 95-year-old venue was saved from the demolition by the Incorporated Village of Patchogue.

Nine Opera Singers Advance To Final Round Of 2019 Met National Council Auditions

Following yesterday's highly competitive semifinal competition, nine singers will advance to the final phase of the 65th annual Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, America's largest vocal competition. The winners will receive individual cash prizes of $15,000, while the remaining finalists will receive prizes of $7,500.

Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival Announces Public Installation Artists For May 2019 In Toronto

Today, the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival announced their public installation program for the 23rd edition of the city-wide event spanning the month of May 2019. Renowned American artist Carrie Mae Weems will create three separate site-specific installations at outdoor venues downtown, representing the first time she has shown her work at this scale in Canada.
