The London premiere of Birmingham Royal Ballet's brand new production of Don Quixote is coming to Sadler's Wells next month following a critically acclaimed UK tour.

The unmatched impact of Rudolf Nureyev, whose performances touched the lives of people around the world, will be celebrated on stage this September in London over five performances at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane - where Nureyev made his London debut - in a production curated by a former star of The Royal Ballet which will bring together an array of international talent both on and off stage.

Birmingham Royal Ballet today announces its programme plans from May 2022 - March 2023. In a big year for the city, the season includes several highlights in Birmingham during the year that it hosts the Commonwealth Games, as well as touring the UK and bringing the new production of Don Quixote to London.

For spring 2022, Birmingham Royal Ballet's Director Carlos Acosta promises entertainment for all ages when he brings an explosion of Spanish sunshine, spectacular dance and vivacious comedy to stages across the country. 

 Curated by Carlos will be available as a digital screening, for audiences around the world to watch wherever they may be. This creates access for a global audience to witness the triple bill which includes the world premiere at Sadler's Wells Theatre of a new pas de deux created especially for Carlos Acosta and Alessandra Ferri by Chacona choreographer Goyo Montero.

Sadler's Wells has announced a further three productions for autumn 2021, including a new production from Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, an off-site presentation from Charlotte Spencer in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and a triple bill from Birmingham Royal Ballet featuring Carlos Acosta and Alessandra Ferri.

Dame Darcey Bussell presents this historic performance. For the very first time, all eight of the UK’s leading dance companies share the same stage. Mariko Sasaki, Lukas Bjørneboe Brændsrød perform Valentino Zuchetti's Scherzo as part of the British Ballet Charity Gala. 

For Birmingham Royal Ballet’s homecoming season at Birmingham Hippodrome, Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s passionate Romeo and Juliet choreography and Prokofiev’s glorious score will set hearts alight in this enduringly popular, classic interpretation of Shakespeare’s tragedy.
