Photo Flash: Birmingham Royal Ballet Presents POLARITY and PROXIMITY

Polarity & Proximity, our summer mixed programme, includes In the Upper Room, one of American dance phenomenon Twyla Tharp's most iconic ballets, and Kin., created for the Company by former Birmingham Royal Ballet dancer Alexander Whitley. The line-up is completed by Embrace, a new ballet commissioned from choreographer George Williamson as part of Ballet Now, Birmingham Royal Ballet's unique five-year programme, run in conjunction with Sadler's Wells, that will develop choreographers, composers and designers to create new and innovative works for the world stage.

Birmingham Royal Ballet Celebrates Summer With LA FILLE MAL GARDEE

The 2017/18 Birmingham Royal Ballet season finishes at The Bristol Hippodrome with the funny and tender La Fille mal gardee. This charming ballet was an instant hit when it was created by Frederick Ashton for the Royal Ballet in 1960. Inspired by Ashton's love of the English countryside, La Fille mal gardee includes some of his most virtuoso, energetic choreography as well as elements of traditional folk dancing.

David Bintley CBE To Step Down As Director Of Birmingham Royal Ballet At The End Of The 2018/19 Season

Today it has been announced that David Bintley will step down as Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet on 31 July 2019. When David leaves he will have been Director of the Company for 24 years. After such an impressive tenure David plans to pursue increasing international requests to choreograph new works and to stage his ballets. He has just returned from working with Sarasota Ballet in the USA who recently premiered his 'Still Life' at the Penguin Cafe.

BWW Interview: Hamish Scott, Bronze Medallist at the GENEE INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION

Following the recent Royal Academy of Dance's Genee International Ballet Competition, Emma Cann catches up with young British dancer Hamish Scott, who was awarded a bronze medal at the hotly contested final in Sydney. Tell us about you - where you're from, why you started dancing and where you're training now.  I'm 19 years old and from Harlow in Essex. I have studied at Elmhurst Ballet School since year 8 and this final graduate year is my 7th year. I started dancing because my sister went to ballet lessons and I always wanted to join in. I have always been exposed to dance as my father works in The Royal Ballet Sinfonia and I was fortunate enough to have seen many performances.

Tickets to Birmingham Royal Ballet's 2016-17 Season Now on Sale

Birmingham Royal Ballet announces the 2016/2017 Birmingham Hippodrome season, the 27th season at its home theatre in the Midlands. The season will celebrate the Company's varied repertory, from the spectacular new The Tempest in the autumn through to the return of The Nutcracker for Christmas and Coppelia in the summer of 2017. Over the course of the season, the Company will perform four full-length classic ballets and a programme of shorter works to include the return of Michael Corder's Le Baiser de la fee, John Cranko's Pineapple Poll and a brand new ballet from Company member Ruth Brill called Arcadia.

BWW Review: ROMEO & JULIET, Birmingham Royal Ballet

The jewel in the crown of the Birmingham Royal Ballet's Shakespeare season (perhaps aside from David Bintley's new Tempest), this production of Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo & Juliet has been a hotly anticipated production for many months. Although many choreographers have tackled Prokoviev's delicious, sweeping score, few, if any, others have achieved the dramatic sublimity of Macmillan's work.

?2015 will be an auspicious year for BIRMINGHAM ROYAL BALLET as it prepares to honour two important anniversaries: the 25th year of the company's re-birth and move from Sadler's Wells to Birmingham and David Bintley's 20th anniversary as Director.

Birmingham Royal Ballet to Bring THE PRINCE OF PAGODAS to London Coliseum in 2014

As part of the Britten 100 Celebrations Birmingham Royal Ballet will perform The Prince of Pagodas in 2014. Ahead of a London Coliseum season from Wednesday 26 until Saturday 29 March the ballet, choreographed by Birmingham Royal Ballet's award-winning director David Bintley, will be performed at The Lowry Salford Quays (30 Jan - 1 Feb), Birmingham Hippodrome (25 Feb - 1 March) and Plymouth's Theatre Royal (19 - 22 March).
