A sweeping saga of love beneath the Tuscan sun, TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley presents the epic Tony Award-winning musical THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, with book by Pulitzer Prize-nominee Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel, based on the 1960 novella by Elizabeth Spencer. Set to the soaring melodies of what the Chicago Tribune called 'the most beautiful score written for the American musical theater in 20 years,' this breath-taking musical is the poignant tale of two extraordinary young people and the overwhelming power of love. Featuring Broadway veterans Rebecca Eichenberger and Martin Vidnovic and regional favorites Whitney Bashor and Constantine Germancos, with TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley at the helm, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA plays August 25-September 19, 2010 (press opening August 28) at TheatreWorks at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Presentations will be on Thursday, August 20th at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and Friday, August 21st at 1:00 PM at The Gloria Maddox Theater (151 W. 26th St., 7th Floor).

Bloomington Civic Theatre auditions for The Light in the Piazza (directed and choreographed by Joe Chvala, music direction by Anita Ruth) will be Tues., May 19 (6:00 p.m., Black Box Theater) and Sun., May 24 (6:00 p.m., Rehearsal Hall). Callbacks will be Sun., June 7 (6:00 p.m., Rehearsal Hall). If a dance audition is needed it will take place at callbacks.

In its Los Angeles Regional Premiere, the Tony Award winning musical The Light In The Piazza will offer special discounted tickets for the Thursday, February 12th and Friday, February 13th performances at the Covina Center for the Performing Arts. All remaining seats for these performances of this critically acclaimed production are $15. In a statement, Phil Miller, Artistic Producing Director of CCPA said 'we are very pleased to be able to offer these discounted to seats to theatre fans throughout Los Angeles during these challenging economic times. Ensuring that all fans of Piazza will be able to see this acclaimed Los Angeles Regional Premiere.'
