Imagine looking out onto the stage where John Wilkes Booth brandishes a pistol at the audience only a few feet away while the balladeer (Patrick Beasley) sings, 'Some say it was your voice had gone, some say it was the booze. Some say you killed a country, John, because of bad reviews' in the song 'The Ballad of Booth.'

New Art Dealers Alliance Announces First Off-Site Exhibition On Governors Island

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), the definitive non-profit arts organization dedicated to the cultivation, support, and advancement of new voices in contemporary art, is pleased to announce the organization's first off-site exhibition, Close Quarters, featuring eight NADA Member galleries on Governors Island. Open July 1-29, artwork will be displayed across two floors of a historic turn-of-the-century Colonial Revival house on Governors Island, and will be on view every weekend in July, Friday through Sunday, 11am-5pm.

This Sunday evening, May 20th, 2018, SHARE Inc. celebrated their annual 65th Annual Boomtown Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The event was headlined by The Righteous Brothers with additional performances by Martha and the Vandellas, Louis Van Amstel of "Dancing with the Stars" and the SHARE ladies. The event's MC was SHARE legacy, Natalie Lander, of ABC's The Middle.

BWW San Antonio: 2018 Joci Award Winners

For 25 finalists from 11 area high schools, $105,000 in scholarship funding was at stake at the 10th Annual Joci Awards, Las Casas Foundation's annual scholarship competition, May 20 at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre. Students sang, danced and acted before an audience of more than 500 and a panel of celebrity judges. Judges were Justin Blancard, Kirsti Carnahan, Caitlyn Caughell, Ryan Driscoll, and Christopher Windom. Each judge has quite an impressive resume of performances and directing opportunities. This made them well qualified to judge the students who were nominated.

BWW Review: Encore Theatre District's BEYOND THERAPY is a Fine Production.

Encore Theatre District is providing a welcome addition to the Coachella Valley theatre scene. The cast of its current play, Durang's BEYOND THERAPY, is filled with talented performers who all do a fine job with their roles and who provide a great deal of laughs. Director Tiffanie Patscheck has the actors engage in some very funny visual business, much of it involving glasses of water and a yoga-obsessed therapist, which alone are worth seeing. 

CATF Announces The Return Of Company Manager Nicole M. Smith

The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University, dedicated to producing and developing new American theater, welcomes Nicole M. Smith, as the full-time Company Manager. Smith served as CATF's seasonal Company Manager from 2012 to 2014, before accepting a position at the notable Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. For Smith, returning to CATF is akin to returning home.

With the school year wrapping up around San Antonio and surrounding areas, many students are looking forward to lazy days by the pool, sleeping late and just being free from the busy school year. However, there are a group of 25 students who have been working tirelessly to succeed and be the best they can as they prepare to participate in the Joci Awards Scholarship Competition on May 20, 2018 at the Empire Theatre in San Antonio. Final rehearsals take place on Saturday and Sunday for the amazingly talented student finalists from Donna, Seguin and San Antonio High Schools.

Casting Update Announced For The Contemporary American Theater Festival's A LATE MORNING (IN AMERICA) WITH RONALD REAGAN

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University will produce the world premiere of Michael Weller's A Late Morning (in America) with Ronald Reagan as part of its 2018 season. This play is a result of a collaboration between Weller, director Sam Weisman, and actor Tim Matheson. Initially, Matheson was to originate the role of Ronald Reagan. However, due to an unexpected scheduling conflict, Matheson is no longer able to be a part of the project and the role will be recast.
