Theatre Aspen begins its 29th summer season with the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Avenue Q tonight, in the new Hurst Theatre, situated along the Rio Grande River. The theatre is unveiling a new lobby facility to complement the Hurst Theatre, which was erected last summer. Theatre Aspen School presents the Howard Ashman and Alan Menken musical Little Shop of Horrors at the Aspen District Theatre from December 2nd - 11th, followed by an encore presentation of the beloved musical Annie, by Thomas Meehan (book), Charles Strouse (music) and Martin Charnin (lyrics). Annie played to sold-out houses in Aspen this summer, and was the largest musical ever produced by the organization, now in its twenty-eighth year. Annie will run from December 16th - 23rd, at the historic Wheeler Opera House in downtown Aspen.
