Sundance Institute Announces Tabitha Jackson as Incoming Festival Director

Today, Sundance Institute announced Tabitha Jackson as the new Director of the Sundance Film Festival. Jackson was chosen from a worldwide search and follows outgoing Director, John Cooper, who served in the role for 11 years and will assume a newly-created Emeritus Director role. An award-winning filmmaker, she has served as Director of the Institute's Documentary Film Program for the last six years. Jackson will oversee the Festival's overall vision and strategy, while leading a senior team in close collaboration with Director of Programming, Kim Yutani. In his new role, Cooper will oversee special projects including preparations for the Institute's 40th anniversary in 2021.

The Bucks County Playhouse is one of the most historic theaters in the country. Its wooden walls practically brim over with a sense of magic, holding within them the vast legacy of performers and creatives who made their impact upon its stage. Names like Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, Neil Simon, Helen Hayes, Angela Lansbury... and that's the short list. One of the people currently contributing to the Playhouse's legacy in a big way is Alexander Fraser, who came onboard the Bucks County Playhouse team as Producing Director in January of 2014.

AMC Network Announces Spring Premiere Dates

AMC Networks announced today from the Television Critics' Association (TCA) Press Tour spring premiere dates for several new and returning original series, including the highly anticipated debuts of AMC's The Walking Dead: World Beyond and three-part series Quiz, a third season of BBC AMERICA's award-winning Killing Eve, the fourth and final season of IFC's acclaimed series Brockmire and the return of SundanceTV's psychological thriller Liar. As previously announced, AMC's Better Call Saul season five debuts with a special two-night premiere event on Sunday, February 23 at 10:00 p.m. ET/9c and Monday, February 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET/8c and the new anthology series Dispatches From Elsewhere premieres Sunday, March 1 at 10:00 p.m. ET/9c. In addition, the next series in BBC AMERICA's Emmy® Award-winning Planet franchise, Seven Worlds, One Planet will air as a multi-network event across BBC AMERICA, AMC, IFC and SundanceTV this Saturday, January 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET/8c.

2020 Sundance Film Festival Announces Juries

Sundance Institute will gather 25 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival with 31 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 1. Short Film Awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 28. The Festival takes place January 23 through February 2 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah.

Sundance Institute adds three feature films to the 2020 Sundance Film Festival's robust slate of independent work today, alongside previously announced work. The Institute also confirmed that previously-announced Special Event, Love Fraud, will screen on Day One of the Festival. The Festival will take place in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort January 23–February 2, 2020.

Actor/director/author Bruce Kimmel is best known to audiences for his tremendous work with Kritzerland, his own company that produces updated albums of classic musicals as well as recordings of new ones like his A Carol Christmas, produced last year at Group Rep and currently nominated for several BroadwayWorld Awards. How do you envision The Man Who Came to Dinner onstage? BK: Fast. Funny. I love the play, have played Banjo twice, so it's really fun to come back to it as a director. The comedy is as funny as it's always been and it's also great to be able to bring whatever we can bring to it. But, for me, pace is key - the play can run long, but I'm making sure that doesn't happen here. Why do you think it has endured all these years even though it's a period piece with the mention of many, many names people today do not recognize?
