'Guiding Light' actor and two time Emmy nominee Robert Newman joins the cast of the original baseball musical National Pastime when it plays May 1st in the Grandstand Theater at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. The show, with book by Tony Sportiello and music/lyrics by Al Tapper, plans a Broadway run in the spring of 2011.

Michigan's Barn Theatre Forced to Cut Summer Productions

Michigan's long-running Barn Theatre has been forced to cancel the remaining productions in its 2009/2010 season due to budgetary constraints. The theatre, which has been a staple in Michigan, providing theatre for more than 60 years, has been home to some of Broadway's biggest names including Jonathan Larson, Marin Mazzie, and Tom Wopat.

SESSIONS, the musical about the everyday life of a New York therapist and his patients, will close after the matinee (3PM) on Sunday, January 3rd at the Algonquin Theater. SESSIONS is directed by Thomas Cote and written by Albert M. Tapper (From Where I Stand, Broadway: The Golden Age), produced by Jason Hewitt and Tony Sportiello/Algonquin Theater Productions. The musical began at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater in 2007 where it played 109 performances prior to moving to the Algonquin Theater in 2008 where it played 61 previews will have played 360 performances. SESSIONS stars Robert Newman, a two-time Daytime Emmy nominee for his longtime work as Joshua Lewis on 'Guiding Light.'
