History Fort Lauderdale’s 27th annual History Makers fundraiser has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 31, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Galleria Fort Lauderdale.

Bleak House began life in 2015 as an invitation to direct a devised piece for the graduating class at the Arts University in Bournemouth. Britain was still in the midst of an austerity policy that was creating poverty and the reappearance of Victorian illnesses that had been thought to have been eradicated. The #MeToo movement was about to explode across the world, and the machinery of democracy was being tinkered with by the Russians that would have devastating effects on the American election. Bleak House seemed a perfect fit.

Returning to the UK stage 12 years after the award-winning success of Gormenghast, the reformed David Glass Ensemble present their breath-taking physical adaptation of Bleak House by international master theatre maker David Glass. 

In March, New Conservatory Theatre Center presents the world premiere of Everything That's Beautiful by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder. When Luke and Jess decide to allow their eight-year-old child to live as a girl, they relocate from the Midwest in order to give the family a clean start. Shortly after settling into their new home, an accident compels Luke to finally admit the real reason they moved, a confession that could potentially destroy their family. In this timely and tender new play, change is the only constant.

In January, NCTC presents the West Coast premiere of Daniel's Husband, the acclaimed drama by Michael McKeever, directed by Allen Sawyer. Daniel and Mitchell enjoy life as the perfect couple. Perfect house, perfect friends. What isn't perfect is Daniel longs to be married. Mitchell does not. As their love story unfolds in this 'work of profoundly moving art' (The Sun-Sentinel), these two men learn the consequences of their points of view. Proclaimed by the Miami Herald as 'beautifully crafted, powerfully realized and emotionally devastating,' Daniel's Husband takes an unflinching look at how we choose to tie the knot. Or not.

The inaugural BROADWAY'S GOT GUTS event was a spectacular evening of wonderful entertainment by Broadway's brightest singing the wonderful standards and hits sung by the late, great Nancy LaMott with proceeds supporting the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America's on November 2, 2015 at the Friars Club.
