The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Artistic Advisor at Large Renee Fleming have added singer/composer Theo Bleckmann as part of the 2018-2019 Renee Fleming VOICES series. Presented in conjunction with the Direct Current festival, this concert takes place Thursday, April 4, 2019, at 9 p.m. in the KC Jazz Club, located in the Terrace Gallery.

Broadway Dreams has partnered once again with the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on the return of their annual Summer Intensive, now in session through August 4, 2018. Lead by an all-star roster of Broadway's brightest stars and industry professionals, Charlotte's rising stars are participating in a week-long intensive focusing on acting, vocal performance and dance. The week culminates in two public performances of a dynamic Broadway-style cabaret, allowing students to perform alongside their Broadway idols.

The festival kicks off with an exclusive Leadership Event this Friday, July 20, and continues with three performances Saturday and Sunday, July 21-22. The event is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts held Some Enchanted Evening, the 27th Annual Summer Gala in Sag Harbor on the Long Wharf on July 7, 2018, with Jane Lynch as emcee. The event benefits Bay Street's educational and theatrical programs. The evening included special performances as well as a silent auction, cocktail party, live auction with celebrity auctioneer Richard Kind, dinner and dancing. And due to future restoration of the Long Wharf, this was the final gala to be held there. The theme this year was a Celebration of the Golden Age of Broadway. A star-filled concert kicked off the evening, with songs from the most beloved musicals including South Pacific, West Side Story, On The Town, Carousel, and more, written by the hilarious, award-winning playwright Jonathan Tolins (playwright of Buyer and Cellar and Bay Street's hit comedy The Forgotten Woman). Entertainment included Broadway star and East Hampton resident Howard McGillin (Mystery of Edwin Drood, Gigi, Bay Street's My Fair Lady and Grey Gardens) performing 'Some Enchanted Evening' and 'Something's Coming'; German and Australian star Sarah Bowden (Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, A Chorus Line at the Hollywood Bowl) and Cory Lingner performed 'Whatever Lolo Wants' with special thanks from Mary Callahan and Nicole Fosse from The Verdon Fosse Legacy; choreographer Joshua Bergasse who recreated his Tony nominated staging of 'New York, New York' from On the Town; and Robert Fairchild, former Principal Dancer New York City Ballet and starred in An American in Paris on Broadway performed 'Kansas City'; Phyre Hawkins performed 'Come Rain or Come Shine'; Nick Cearley and Wayne Alan Wilcox performed a medley from Guy and Dolls; Other performers include Bay Street Acting Apprentices Kara Arena, Lewis Elliott, Allison Gray, Meghan LeFlam, Anthony Sims and Phillip Young. Tony Award winner and renowned ballet choreographer Christopher Wheeldon (AN AMERICAN IN PARIS) is now in Hong Kong for the Asian premiere of his short piece 'Rush', originated in 2003 for San Francisco Ballet, now performed by Hong Kong Ballet in their programme WHEELDON, RATMANSKY, MCINTYRE & THE BEATLES, which also features two other pieces, 'Le Carnaval Des Animaux' by Alexei Ratmansky and 'A Day in the Life' by Trey McIntyre with hits by The Beatles.

Ghostlight Records has announced it will record the New York City Center production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's musical Brigadoon, for a new cast recording to be released this fall. Brigadoon has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Starring Kelli O'Hara, Patrick Wilson and Stephanie J. Block, the show features The Encores! Orchestra, led by Music Director Rob Berman. The cast headed into the recording studio this week. Check out some shots below of the making of the Brigadoon cast recording!
