Capturing the imagination of young and old alike, the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical continues to play to packed houses at the Cambridge Theatre in London. Matilda has now been seen by almost 1.5million people since it transferred to the West End in October 2011. The production was commissioned by the RSC and played to sold-out audiences at the RSC's The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon for twelve weeks from November 2010 to January 2011. Tickets are now on sale until Sunday 24 May 2015.

Today we are saluting one of Broadway's brassiest, bawdiest and best-loved leading ladies in honor of her death this week, the one and only Elaine Stritch.

Today, MATILDA composer and lyricist Tim Minchin hosted a question and answer session on The Guardian website. Minchin discussed his appreciation of Roald Dahl, writing music, and his newest project: a stage adaptation of the Howard Ramis film 'Groundhog Day.'

Imagination Stage, in Bethesda, has scored yet another home run with its production of THE BFG, adapted by David Wood, OBE, from Roald Dahl's children's novel, and directed by Kathryn Chase Bryer and Eric J. Van Wyck. Parents will find themselves laughing along with their kids at Dahl's and Wood's irreverent humor, including an extended riff on the biologically impolite results of reversing the direction of the bubbles in soda pop. The more mature members of the audience will chuckle at the modern cultural references. This production is a must-see.

Building on the success of its inaugural Theater Series for Young Audiences, of which every performance was sold out, Marin Theatre Company will again partner with Bay Area Children's Theatre to present five productions in MTC's 99-seat Lieberman Theatre and 231-seat Boyer Theatre. The series includes four BACT productions - Five Little Monkeys, James and the Giant Peach, Three Little Birds, and Fancy Nancy, the Musical! - as well as one MTC production - Around the World in 80 Days. Based in Mill Valley, MTC is a 47-year old professional nonprofit theater that is a destination for smart, uncommon and adventurous theater.

Theater at Monmouth's Family Show opens June 28 at 7 p.m. with a world premiere production Tales from the Blue Fairy Book based on Andrew Lang's Blue Fairy Book. Adapted by Dawn McAndrews, Tales from the Blue Fairy Book bursts with classic tales from around the globe, including East of the Sun, West of the Moon; The Bronze Ring; The White Cat; and The Stars in the Sky.

The Royal Court Theatre announces a new season of work today, Friday 27 June, including new plays from Molly Davies, Zinnie Harris, Rory Mullarkey, Tim Price and Jack Thorne; a debut play from first-time playwright Diana Nneka Atuona; a collaboration between scientist Chris Rapley, playwright and director Duncan Macmillan and director Katie Mitchell and a new production for young people and their families - Enda Walsh's new adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Twits.

Society of London Theatre (SOLT) today has announced that Caro Newling has been appointed as its new President. Caro has been a producer in the West End, on Broadway and internationally since the early 1990s.

The world premiere of the Theatre for Young Audiences version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang opened Friday June 20 at The Coterie Theatre in Crown Center. Ian Fleming the creator of the legendary James Bond spy novels wrote the novel that Roald Dahl adapted. Dahl's adaption became the hit musical MGM motion picture.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has been running relaxed performances in Stratford-Upon-Avon since 2013, but Sunday marked their first ever relaxed performance - of Matilda - for a West End audience, bringing the stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's courageous and loved tale to audiences affected by autism and other learning disabilities.

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of The Color Purple at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street on Friday, June 20, 2014 with a Preview tonight, June 19. The show runs through August 3, 2014.
