Nominees for the 2014 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards were announced on the evening of Monday, September 22 at Native Voices at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles. The nominations were revealed by past Ovation Award recipients Gigi Bermingham, Brighid Fleming, Parmer Fuller, Jennifer Haley, Brian Kite, Glynn Turman, and John Zalewski, along with LA STAGE Alliance Chief Executive Officer Terence McFarland.

t's almost here! On September 23 the curtain rises on the debut production of OPERA San Antonio. Fantastic Mr. Fox is a performance you'll want to bring the whole family to see. Based on the popular children's book by Roald Dahl about a brave and clever fox who outwits his enemies to save his family and friends, the opera features the music of Tobias Picker, who has been dubbed 'our finest composer for the lyric stage' by The Wall Street Journal.

September will be a month to remember for the record-breaking and award-winning West End production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes. In the month that sees the book mark its 50th anniversary, and Roald Dahl Day celebrate Dahl's work, life and legacy, the production has sold its one millionth ticket, and today producers have announced an extension to its booking period, until 31 October 2015.
MATILDA THE MUSICAL to Hold Gala Performance in Aid of BBC Children in Need, Nov. 4

The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Roald Dahl's MATILDA the musical will hold a special Gala performance in aid of BBC Children in Need on Tuesday 4 November 2014. The evening will be hosted by BBC Radio 2's Sir Terry Wogan with a special appearance from the charity's mascot, Pudsey. BBC Radio 2 presenters and celebrities will be in attendance alongside members of the public. At least 50% of the proceeds from this performance will benefit the BBC Children in Need Appeal, and its work with disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Long before film director Wes Anderson decided to adapt Fantastic Mr. Fox for the big screen, OPERA San Antonio's Artistic Director, Tobias Picker, had a hit of his own with his operatic version of the much-loved Roald Dahl story. So much so that his opera, Fantastic Mr. Fox, has been performed in several highly varied productions since its 1998 premiere, including three seasons as part of a popular open-air festival in one of London's celebrated parks.

The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers today announced that Tori Feinstein, Eliza Holland Madore, Brooklyn Shuck, and Fina Strazza have joined the Broadway company of Matilda the Musical and will begin performances in the title role over the course of the next few weeks.

Penobscot Theatre Company has unveiled a diverse slate of dramatic education programs for the 2014-2015 school year including youth classes, vacation camps, master classes for teens and adults, and a new young adult conservatory. A rarely seen portrait of one of the world's most celebrated writers, Roald Dahl, painted when he was a young RAF pilot during the Second World War by Matthew Smith, has gone on display at the National Portrait Gallery, it was announced today, Wednesday 6 August 2014. The portrait features in a new display bringing together, for the first time, the pioneering modernist work of painter Matthew Smith and sculptor Frank Dobson.
