Two things we love here at BroadwayWorld Jr.: Broadway shows for families and the development of terrific new public schools in New York City. Here's your opportunity to be a part of both. The Hebrew Charter School Center (HCSC) is inviting fans of great family theater to a special benefit performance of Matilda on Sunday April 21st at 3:00 pm. All proceeds of the benefit will go to HCSC, which is working to develop high quality Hebrew language charter schools in the New York area and across the country.

With a new leadership team of Gregory Doran, Artistic Director, and Catherine Mallyon, Executive Director, at the helm, the Royal Shakespeare Company returns to New York this spring with two productions, Julius Caesar and Matilda The Musical. Both began their lives at the RSC's Stratford-upon-Avon home and reflect the Company's continuing commitment to Shakespeare and the work of contemporary playwrights and theatre artists, as it celebrates one hundred years of touring work from Shakespeare's birthplace to the US.

Roald Dahl's classic tale of a boy and his magic peach comes to life on The Rep stage! After the smashing success of PAPA's (Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts) collaboration with the Rep's Adult Resident Company's production of Winnie The Pooh A Christmas Tale, director Miles Burns felt as though he should continue the tradition of combining youth apprentices with seasoned adult actors to put on a youth production. James and The Giant Peach was an "obvious choice" says Burns "The story lends itself to the adult actors being able to portray many different roles, and to have some fun while doing it. And it allows the youth company to work with adult actors they look up to and 'step up their game'. The combination is a winning match."

MATILDA THE MUSICAL, with Penguin Young Readers Group, has launched a monthly book club in celebration of Roald Dahl. Tonight at 7:30 EDT fans can watch Lucy Dahl during a Google+ Hangout video chat as she explores topics and themes from the book "Matilda" and shares her own stories of growing up as the daughter of best-selling author Roald Dahl. MATILDA THE MUSICAL, produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, will open on April 11, 2013 at Broadway's Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street). MATILDA THE MUSICAL has been named a three-time winner in the 34th Annual Telly Awards for its pre-opening television campaign, created by advertising agency AKA. The television spot, which previews the sound, color, and attitude of one of the season's most highly anticipated musicals, was recognized for excellence in Entertainment, Art Direction and Use of Music. Culture Project will rename their mainstage theatre, currently known as 45 Bleecker Street, the Lynn Redgrave Theatre this June. The announcement was made onstage by Mr. Buchman during the opening night curtain call for Culture Project's current production of Shaheed: The Dream and Death of Benazir Bhutto. A naming ceremony and commemorative gala in honor of the late Ms. Redgrave will take place on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Stage 48 (605 West 48th Street, New York City). Honorary Chairs for the evening are Vanessa Redgrave, Liam Neeson, and Ms. Redgrave's three children Annabel Clark, Ben Clark, and Pema Clark.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL, produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, is currently in previews at Broadway's Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street). The show has just announced its rush policy effective immediately: $27 student rush tickets for MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be available for Monday through Thursday performances (excluding Thursday, March 28 and Thursday, April 11, 2013). There will be a minimum of 20 tickets available per performance.

Thirty schools from across the country have been selected as finalists in NBC's "Smash" Make a Musical Constructed by Lowe's initiative to improve school theater facilities. The schools will compete to receive the most online votes at makeamusical.org by Wednesday, April 10 in order to receive one of five grand prize gift certificates to Lowe's for their renovations.
