The producers of Bandstand have launched 'Band Together-The Broadway Veteran Project,' a sponsorship program allowing United States military veterans access to sponsored tickets to the brand new musical directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner and 2017 Tony Award nominee Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton) with music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker.

Welcome home, Bandstand! Earlier this week, a brand new musical took its place on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler, (Hamilton) with music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker, Bandstand stars Corey Cott and Laura Osnes. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the sacred Gypsy Robe ceremony. In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld is shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. Today, we continue the series with David Korins, and Paloma Young, who acted as scenic and costume designers for Broadway's syncopated sensation, Bandstand.

Award winning playwright Jonathan Tolins (Buyer and Cellar, The Twilight of the Golds, The Last Sunday in June) will write the 2017 Drama Desk Awards show, it was announced today by Gretchen Shugart, the Managing Executive Producer of the Drama Desk Awards and Charles Wright, the President of the Drama Desk.

As they sit in darkness, the first thing the audience hears is the sound of distant explosions. They come with an erratic frequency, edging frighteningly closer with each blast. But gradually, the sound becomes more rhythmic, adapting a fierce pulse until what we're hearing is a drum set beating out a swing tempo.
