Disney Theatrical Productions and Baltimore's Hippodrome Theatre announced today that tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of Disney's The Lion King will go on sale to the public on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 10:00AM.

One of Disney's most successful musical theatre endeavors, THE LION KING, continues its run in Mexico City at the Telcel Theatre.

Disney's The Lion King once again set the record for the highest-grossing engagement in Greenville theatrical history with a gross of $5.6 million. The award-winning musical entertained nearly 64,000 theatergoers during the four-week engagement at the Peace Center which concluded on June 25. The North American tour broke its own record set in 2012 when the production grossed over $5.1 million during their previous four week engagement.

I was very excited to see ABT's 'The Golden Cockerel 'on June 2, 2017. Having heard so much about it, and having read extensively about the Fokine ballet production from 1937, not to mention watching the enticing video on YouTube, I was looking forward to a very magical evening. I can't say that this promise was fulfilled, even if it did offer intermittent pleasures. But after leaving the theater following this two act extravaganza, I began to wonder what exactly it was that ABT had to offer and why they are presenting this piece, as it does not seem destined for a long life in the repertoire-or if it's just waiting to be taped for 'Great Performances' on Channel 13. Or perhaps there is nothing that could be mined from the ballet at all!

1914 is not a year that should conjure much nostalgia for those who survived it. Among smaller aggravations, the year marked the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and resulted in a half decade war, the likes of which the world had not seen. The year also marked the premiere of Fokine's 'The Golden Cockerel' by The Ballets Russes. Fokine, their first choreographer, was no stranger to '(Description) (Bird)' pieces whether it be 'The Dying Swan,' 'The Firebird,' or 'The Gold Cockerel.' 'The Golden Cockerel' was in his established career and it, unlike the previous year's infamous 'Rite of Spring,' was a jewel box escape from the hostile international climate. The warmth of this piece served a Parisian audience in search of the early 1910's glow, which was probably a distant memory by then. Today, scrupulously mounted by ABT under the direction of Ratmansky and with designs by Richard Hudson (off of the Natalia Goncharova originals,) 'The Golden Cockerel' is a charming aesthetic study even as it has waned as a satisfying evening of dance.

Casting for the third and fourth weeks of American Ballet Theatre's 2017 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out return engagement at The Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis, where the record-breaking tour celebrated its 15th anniversary on April 27.

The North American tour of Disney's The Lion King is celebrating its 15th anniversary today, Thursday, April 27 in St. Louis, where the award-winning musical is playing a nearly sold-out engagement at The Fox Theatre through May 7, 2017. 

Casting has been announced for the Greenville engagement of Disney's The Lion King. Greenville's most eagerly awaited return will leap onto the Peace Center stage from Wednesday, May 31, to Sunday, June 25. The show's four-week premiere engagement in 2012 played a sold-out run at the Peace Center.

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out engagement in Salt Lake City, which concluded on Sunday, April 16, at The George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater. The triumphant four-week return grossed over $6.2 million at the box office and entertained nearly 75,000 theatergoers during 31 performances.

On this day in 2000, The Lion King,reached its 1,000th performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Based on the animated film of the same name,  the show opened on Broadway November 13, 1997 and won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Musical.

The national tour of Disney's THE LION KING, currently playing at the new Eccles Theater, is filled with visual spectacle and larger-than-life wonder. THE LION KING is more than just a musical.  It is an experience that is not to be missed and unlikely to ever be forgotten.

The Salt Lake City return of Disney's The Lion King opens tomorrow, Saturday, March 25 at 8:00pm at the Eccles Theater for, a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, April 16.  In Salt Lake City,The Lion King will play Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 2:00pm and 8:00pm, Sundays at 1:00pm and 6:30pm, along with weekday matinees on Thursday, March 30 and Friday, April 14 at 2:00pm.  "Thus far sales have exceeded our expectations, but patrons are encouraged to contact the box office for best availability," said John Ballard, MagicSpace Entertainment.

American Ballet Theatre's 2017 Spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 15-July 8, will feature the New York Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's Whipped Cream and the Company Premiere of Ratmansky's Souvenir d'un lieu cher. Tickets for ABT's Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House go on sale at the box office on Sunday, March 26 at 12 Noon.

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out record-breaking engagement in Providence, which concluded on Sunday, March 19 at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC).  The triumphant three-week return grossed over $5.3 million at the box office and entertained more than 68,000 theatergoers during 24 performances.
