THE LION KING Tour Celebrates Thrilling More Than 20 Million Around the Country

The North American tour of Disney's The Lion King celebrated the milestone of reaching an audience of over 20 million people at the conclusion of its engagement in El Paso on June 10. Now in its 17th touring year, The Lion King North American touring productions have played over 8,431 performances during 185 engagements in 80 cities. If the North American tours were a Broadway production, they would be the fourth longest running show in history.

Disney's THE LION KING Opens Tonight At Dallas Summer Musicals

Disney's The Lion King opens tonight, Wednesday, June 13, at the Music Hall at Fair Park for a limited four-week engagement through Saturday, July 7, presented by Dallas Summer Musicals and Broadway Across America (BAA).

Tickets On Sale Friday for THE LION KING

Disney Theatrical Productions and the Morrison Center are thrilled to announce that tickets for the premiere engagement of Disney's THE LION KING go on sale to the public Friday, June 15, at 10:00 a.m. Disney's THE LION KING will leap onto the Morrison Center stage on October 17 for a limited three-week engagement through November 4.

Disney's THE LION KING Celebrates Record-Breaking Sold-Out Engagement In Kalamazoo, MI

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a record-breaking, sold-out, two-week premiere engagement at Miller Auditorium in Kalamazoo, where the tour grossed over $3.4 million at the box office and entertained more than 52,000 theatergoers during 16 performances. The production, which played Miller Auditorium April 4 - 15, broke the box office record for any touring Broadway engagement in Kalamazoo.

BWW Review: THE LION KING - From Broadway To Shinagawa

In 1994, the Disney animated feature The Lion King made history as the highest grossing film of the year. Three years later on November 13, 1997, the awe-inspiring stage adaptation directed and costumed by Julie Taymor opened on Broadway. It received six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. With songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, the vibrant score is by Hans Zimmer, who recruited South African composer Lebo M. to create the textural Zulu influence. Twenty-five years later, its legacy continues to reverberate around the world. In a Japanese translation of this mega hit, Shiki Theater Haru in Minato remounted the first international production of The Lion King on December 20th, 1998. This year it celebrates its 20th anniversary in Japan at the Natsu Theater in Shinagawa.

Disney's THE LION KING North American Tour Celebrates Sold-Out Engagement in Jacksonville

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out run in Jacksonville. The two-week return engagement at TheTimes-Union Center grossed over $3.1 million at the box office and entertained more than 44,000 theatergoers during 16 performances. This engagement was the second time for the show at The Times-Union Center.

THE LION KING Opens Tonight in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville return of Disney's The Lion King opens tonight, Wednesday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Times-Union Center for a limited engagement of two weeks through Sunday, February 11. In Jacksonville, The Lion King will play Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. & 8 p.m., and Sundays at 1 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. "Thus far, sales have exceeded our expectations," said Executive Director Dr. Milt Russos. "Some seats are still available during our two-week engagement, but they are going fast!"

Cast Announced for Orlando Engagement of THE LION KING

Casting has been announced for the Orlando return engagement of Disney's The Lion King. The show's first appearance in the Walt Disney Theater at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and it's third time to Orlando, the four-week engagement runs from February 14 through March 11.

THE LION KING International Tour Releases New Block of Tickets in Manila

Disney's The Lion King international tour producers Michael Cassel Group, Concertus Manila, and Disney Theatrical Productions have announced that a new block of tickets for the Manila run of the musical will be made available on Wednesday, January 10, at 10 a.m. PST exclusively through TicketWorld.com.ph.

In honor of the show's 20th anniversary, The Lion King cast members Adrienne Walker, who's been playing Nala on Broadway since July of 2016, and Agust n Arg ello, currently starring as Simba in Mexico City's production, released a performance of 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' in Spanish and English.
