Pamela Weiler Grayson’s new play Observant opened on Thursday, September 12 with a sold-out house at Spark Theatre Festival NYC. The New York Premiere is currently running until September 28 at the Chain Theatre in midtown Manhattan. Shellen Lubin directs. Check out photos from opening night here!

Karen Lynn Gorney, star of the movie “Saturday Night Fever” and “All My Children” joins the cast as Carrie in The Chesapeake Chicks, a brand-new comedy by Peter Zachari premiering at Theater for the New City. Gorney is joined by Rebecca Hoodwin as Rita, Margo Singaliese as Alice, Nora Falk as Carrie, Andrew Cuccaro as Matthew and Peter Coleman as The Officer.

This month, Theatre Now is producing staged readings of Derailed! and The Sustain, new musicals developed in their Musical Writers Lab.

For the 3rd consecutive year, Irvington Theater will once again present the Arts Incubator Short Play Fest: a free celebration of short, new, in-development works of theater and the playwrights behind them! This year's fest will exist — for the first time ever — in a hybrid format of online events and in-person readings from March 18-26.

Seven Days, Vermont's Independent Voice, reports that Vermont Stage will host the world premiere of Stephen Spotswood's new play DOUBLEWIDE, running January 24th - February 11th. DOUBLEWIDE has been picked up by the National New Play Network, an organization that aims to help new plays gain visibility by promising a given play that their work will be picked up by at least three participating theaters in the span of the year. DOUBLEWIDE will be produced first in Vermont, before later being staged by theaters in Florida and Michigan.

The tenth season of New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series concludes on Monday, December 4, 2017 at The Cell with pre-premieres of two new musicals: Oswald and Question 1.

Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company will present the New York workshop reading of Leslie Kimbell's Four Old Broads October 28th at 3pm. Variations Theatre Group's critically acclaimed production of Eric Bogosian's TALK RADIO will conclude its limited engagement tomorrow night (Saturday) at the Chain Theatre. Inspired by the 1984 murder of controversial shock jock Alan Berg, TALK RADIO is set in a Cleveland radio station over the course of Barry Champlain's two-hour broadcast as he's being scrutinized that night by producers fixated on taking the show national, and fueled as always by coffee, cocaine and Jack Daniel's. Barry's jousts with his unseen callers-ranging from a white supremacist to a woman obsessed with her garbage disposal-are interspersed with confrontations by his ex-deejay pal and his sometime girlfriend/producer.

Barbara Rosenblat, who plays the cancer-stricken inmate Miss Rosa on "Orange is the New Black," recently checked out the new revival of Eric Bogosian's TALK RADIO at the Chain Theatre. Barbara appeared in the 2007 Broadway production of TALK RADIO starring Live Schreiber, and she was also in the original cast of The Secret Garden as the housekeeper Mrs. Medlock.
