Kentwood Players Presents Suspenseful Thriller DIAL M FOR MURDER

Kentwood Players welcomes the Halloween Season by presenting DIAL M FOR MURDER, a suspenseful thriller by Frederick Knott, opening Friday, September 13 through Saturday, October 19, 2019 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm at the Westchester Playhouse, located at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Westchester, CA 90045.

VTA Announces 2019 Cool Films Series Line-Up

Victoria Theatre Association announces the 2019 Cool Films line-up including themed marathon weekends and the return of live organ concerts on the Mighty Wurlitzer. New to the Cool Films Series are hosted screenings of Napoleon Dynamite with Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez, and Jon Gries, The Princess Bride with Corey Elwes as well as two movie events with radio and podcast Filmically Perfect hosts J. Todd Anderson and George Willeman. MasterVoices Announces 2018-19 Season

Ted Sperling, Artistic Director of MasterVoices, announced details of the acclaimed ensemble's 77th season, celebrating the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. The upcoming season will be framed by two major musical events, the New York premiere of a multi-media version of Handel's oratorioIsrael in Egypt performed at Carnegie Hall, and a new adaptation of the Kurt Weill-Ira Gershwin-Moss Hart avant-garde musical, Lady in the Dark, starring Victoria Clark at New York City Center. Lady in the Dark has not been seen in New York since it was presented at New York City Center in 1994 as part of the inaugural Encores! season.

DIAL M FOR MURDER Opens At New Theater in Chinatown

There's a new performance venue in San Francisco, and the SF City Theatre Company has found a new home there. The Clarion Music Performing Arts Center is in San Francisco's Chinatown at 2 Waverly Place (at Sacramento Street.) SFCTC's first offering in the new venue will be Frederick Knott's suspense thriller, Dial M for Murder, March 10-24.

KISS ME KATE Screens in 3-D at Film Forum

"3-D Auteurs," a 19-day, 34-film festival spotlighting stereoscopic movies by some of history's most distinguished directors, will run at Film Forum from Friday, November 11 through Tuesday, November 29. The festival spans 3-D's earliest days (including some turn-of-the-century films by pioneer Georges Melies) to the present, and represents virtually every genre, including Westerns, Film Noir, and Science Fiction.

Actress and filmmaker Rita Gam passed away earlier this month from respiratory failure. She was 88 years old. Gam was born Rita MacKay in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Belle (Fately), who was born in Romania, and Milton A. MacKay, who was born in Alsace-Lorraine, to parents from Romania. She took on the surname of her stepfather, Russian-born Benjamin Gam. Gam was raised in New York City.
