DIAL M FOR MURDER Opening Soon at Stage Door Players ImageSTAGE DOOR PLAYERS (SDP) opens its 44th season with the thrilling drama, Dial M For Murder, by Frederick Knott on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Theatre's home in the North Dekalb Cultural Arts Center at 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody.

The production is directed by Kate MacQueen and features SDP Artistic Director, Robert Egizio, in the cast. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm (additional performance at 8pm on Thursday, October 12th), and Sundays at 2:30pm. Single tickets are on sale now at the box office (770-396-1726), or online at www.stagedoorplayers.net. Tickets are $33; senior, student, and youth discounts are available.

Tony Wendice has married his wife, Margot, for her money. Now he is planning her murder. His "perfect" plans include blackmailing a scoundrel he used to know into strangling her, and a brilliant alibi for himself. After a terrifying twist of fate, a suspenseful Hitchcockian game of cat-and-mouse is put into play, until an inspector from Scotland Yard and the man in love with Margot discover the truth. The play originally premiered on BBC in 1952 followed by a run in London's West End.

The first Broadway production of Dial M for Murder ran from 1952 to 1954. Alfred Hitchcock then directed the film version released in 1954 with Ray Milland and Grace Kelly in the lead roles. An interesting bit of trivia: originally shot in 3D, the film was then converted to 2D due to the waning popularity of 3D films. The talented SDP cast includes Charles Green in the role of Captain Lesgate (Deathtrap at SDP, The Crucible at Actor's Express), Davin Allen Grindstaff in the role of Thompson (productions at SDP, Process Theatre, GET, and producer of new web series pilot Walter Frisk Lets Go), Chad Martin in the role of Max Halliday (Visiting Mr. Green and Greetings at SDP), and Doyle Reynolds as Inspector Hubbard (Let Nothing You Dismay and Sylvia at SDP).

The roles of husband and wife Tony and Margot Wendice are played by SDP Artistic Director Robert Egizio (who last appeared onstage here in The Odd Couple) and Kristin Markiton (making her SDP debut) who stole audiences' hearts in Aurora's hit Bridges of Madison County. Markiton and Egizio are excited to share the stage again having worked together many years ago in the Actor's Express production of Wonderful Town. Director Kate MacQueen returns to SDP after directing Southern Comforts two seasons ago. Widely known throughout Atlanta for her acting, Kate has been adding more directing credits to her resume, including her current role as one of the producers of The Weird Sisters Theatre Project.

The production/design team for Dial M for Murder includes Jim Alford (Costume Design), Bill Byrne (Stage Manager), George Deavours (Wig Design), Kathy Ellsworth (Props Design), Rial Ellsworth (Sound Design), Hampton Whatley (Production Manager), Chuck Welcome (Scenic Design), and John David Williams (Lighting Design).

Tickets start at $33 and are available online at www.stagedoorplayers.net or by calling the box office at (770) 396-1726. Senior and student discounts are available. INTERVIEWSInterviews with the director, designer, or cast are available by emailing stagedoorplayers@bellsouth.net. UP NEXT AT STAGE DOOR PLAYERS:CHRISTMAS AT SWEET APPLE by Phillip DePoy, directed by Shelly McCook, December 1-17, 2017.
