Casting and directors have been announced for The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT)'s 18th Annual Festival of New Musicals, which will be held at New World Stages on Sunday, October 8 and Monday, October 9, 2006
At the conclusion of the new musical on stage at the Theater at St. Clement's Church, an animated film of flowers blooming is projected on the cyclorama. It is supposed to represent a prayed-for miracle, however the lighting and the metallic confetti falling in front of it make the flowers appear out of focus and at times completely blurred. It seems a fitting way to end a show that has great promise but is completely out of focus in its present state
The New York Musical Theatre Festival and the Chaplin Corporation present BEHIND THE LIMELIGHT, a new musical about the life and art of Charlie Chaplin by Christopher Curtis. Directed by Michael Unger, BEHIND THE LIMELIGHT features a distinguished cast that includes Luther Creek (Rent, Urinetown) as Chaplin, as well as Andrea McArdle (Tony Award nominee for Annie, Beauty and the Beast), Janet Metz (Falsettoland, Bingo:The Musical) and Garrett Long (The Spitfire Grill), among others.
Casting has been announced for The Tragic and Horrible Life of the Singing Nun, which will be presented at the New York Musical Theatre Festival from September 14th through 22nd
Young theater stars will come together for Shifting Ground Production's second season opening performance, which will take place at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital on August 30th at 1 PM in their Winter Garden theatre
A February 21st master class with Barbara Cook at the New York Library for the Performing Arts will also receive a live webcast on the library's website
