James Lecesne's THE MOTHER OF INVENTION Opens Tonight at Abingdon

Abingdon Theatre Company presents the world premiere of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, a new play by Academy Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award-winner James Lecesne (The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, Word of Mouth, Trevor). The official press opening is tonight, February 9, in Abingdon's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Artistic Director Tony Speciale, who also directed The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey is set to direct.

New York's funniest show, Celebrity Autobiography: THE 2017 EDITION has a NYC show on March 6 at 7pm at The Triad (158 West 72nd Street) which will feature stars of stage and screen, including Academy Award-nominee Jennifer Tilly, Janeane Garofalo, beloved Crossword Puzzle Editor for The New York Times Will Shortz, Tate Donovan (Manchester by the Sea), Michael Urie (Buyer & Cellar, Younger), five-time Emmy-winner & comedy legend Alan Zweibel, Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock) and Drama Desk-winners Eugene Pack & Dayle Reyfel.

Today, January 22nd, 2017, the Broadway premiere of  OH, HELLO on BROADWAY, starring the two hottest voices in comedy today, Nick Kroll (Comedy Central's 'Kroll Show') and John Mulaney (Netflix's 'The Comeback Kid'), will close.

Each night at the Longacre Theatre, enthusiastic audiences are teleported to the mean streets of New York City in the 1960's. Telling the story of Calogero, an Italian kid coming of age in the Bronx during a turbulent time in American history. The moving story takes us through one young man's struggles to find a place somewhere between his hardworking father, Lorenzo, the son of immigrants and the glamorous pull of the mafia life and local gangster, Sonny.  

PGA Arts Center to Present Live Theatre in Palm Beach Gardens in 2017

Palm Beach Gardens will add live theatre to its ever-growing cultural landscape when the PGA Arts Center opens its doors in late January.  Veteran producers Philip Roger Roy and Dana Matthow have taken a multi-year lease on the PGA Cinemas, located at 4076 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, and are in the process of converting two of the building's six auditoria to accommodate live productions. The two theatres will seat 260 and 280 patrons respectively.  They plan to adapt a third space - which will seat approximately 160, and be available for rentals - within the next year.

Concetta Tomei, best known for her roles on TV's China Beach and Providence and on stage in The Elephant Man (opposite David Bowie) and Sarah Ruhl's The Clean House, leads the cast of Abingdon Theatre Company's world premiere of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, a new play by Academy Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award-winner James Lecesne, as Dottie Nerber.

OH, HELLO Packs in the Tuna, Breaks Lyceum Theatre Box Office Records

OH, HELLO on Broadway has shattered the box office record at the Lyceum Theatre. The show, which stars Nick Kroll and John Mulaney's inexplicably popular alter egos in their acclaimed Broadway masterpiece, grossed $911,602 over nine performances the week ending January 2. The previous record was held by the 2008 production of Macbeth, starring Patrick Stewart.

Austin Pendleton to Direct Michael Weller's JERICHO Reading at Abingdon

Abingdon Theatre Company continues its Ghostlight Reading Series with JERICHO by Michael Weller on Monday, December 19 at 7pm. The reading is free and open to the public at Abingdon Theatre Company's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Austin Pendleton is set to direct.
