Chicago Children's Theatre Spreads Hope, Builds Dreams with West Loop School Partnerships

Chicago Children's Theatre has launched a unique series of community engagement projects with schools and children's service organizations in or near Chicago's West Loop - exciting examples of what's to come in January when Chicago's largest professional theater devoted to children and families opens its first-ever permanent home, Chicago Children's Theatre, The Station, in the neighborhood's former 12th District Police Station, 100 S. Racine Avenue.

Film and TV actress Morgan Fairchild needs no introduction. She has been working for the past 40+ years, always recognizable as the glamorous blonde vixen from such series as Flamingo Road, Paper Dolls and Falcon Crest, as well as the soap Search For Tomorrow. Now about ready to start rehearsals for the Lythgoe Family's Christmas Panto, called A Cinderella Christmas at the Pasadena Playhouse, bowing December 8, Fairchild took time out of her busy schedule to chat with us about the role she is playing and her career. Has she been happy or does she long to change her sexy image?

Chicago Dancemakers Announces Open Call for Lab Artist Awards

Chicago Dancemakers Forum (CDF), under the leadership of Executive Director Ginger Farley, is pleased to announce its open call for applications for Lab Artist Awards in 2017, marking the program's 14th year. The most significant, sustained sources of support for individual choreographers working in Chicago, CDF's four Lab Artist Awards each include a $15,000 cash grant, combined with a full year of mentorship, as recipients explore and develop new works. The program fosters dance excellence and innovation while building relationships among artists, presenters, audiences and funders.

The Theatre School at DePaul to Set ROMEO AND JULIET in the Landscape of Black Lives Matter

The Theatre School at DePaul University will present Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, and directed by Cameron Knight on the Fullerton Stage at The Theatre School at DePaul University. The production opens today, November 4th, and runs through Sunday, November 13, 2016. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on November 2 and 3 at 7:30 PM.

BWW Interview: Playwright Howard Brenton On MAGNIFICENCE

Renowned playwright Howard Brenton's work ranges from The Romans in Britain and Pravda to 55 Days and Drawing the Line. Now, his eerily resonant 1973 play Magnificence - featuring idealistic squatters, police brutality, slippery politicians and radicalisation - is being revived at Finborough Theatre, previewing from 25 October.

The Theatre School at DePaul University Presents Sarah Ruhl's EURYDICE

The Theatre School at DePaul University is pleased to present Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Michael E. Burke (MFA Directing candidate, Class of 2018) in the Sondra & Denis Healy Theatre at The Theatre School building, located at Racine and Fullerton in Lincoln Park. The production premieres on Friday, October 21, and runs through Sunday, October 30, 2016. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on October 19 and 20 at 7:30 PM.  Post-show discussions will occur on October 23 (2 PM) and 27 (7:30 PM).

Hubbard Street's Youth Dance Programs Offer Pop-Up Camps for CPS Students

Hubbard Street Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton and Kathryn Humphreys, Director of the organization's Youth, Education and Community Programs, are pleased to announce unique, day-long dance classes on all 2016 dates during which regularly scheduled Chicago Public Schools classes are not in session due to the Chicago Teachers Union strike. Hubbard Street's Pop-Up Camps will not be offered on Saturdays, Sundays, or days off already scheduled by Chicago Public Schools.

DanceWorks Chicago and Lou Conte Dance Studio Partner for DanceChance

Beginning Today, September 30, 2016, DanceWorks Chicago's monthly program DanceChance returns to the Lou Conte Dance Studio in the Hubbard Street Dance Center, located at 1147 West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago's West Loop. Since its inception in March 2008, DanceChance has encouraged dialogues between artists and audiences, across 85 events to date, featuring the work of more than 200 Chicago-based choreographers.

Sandra Gering Inc. Presents John F. Simon Jr: ENDLESSLY EXPANDING

SANDRA GERING INC is pleased to present John F Simon Jr.:Endlessly Expanding, a solo exhibition of new wall sculptures and recent works on paper. The exhibition coincides with the book publication of Drawing Your Own Path: 33 Practices at the Crossroads of Art and Meditation, as well as an off-site exhibition of related sculpture at Racine Berkow Associates in Long Island City, Queens, opening on October 16th.
