Pittsburgh CLO is proud to announce the cast of the world premiere of GAME ON , November 9, 2018 - January 27, 2019 at the CLO Cabaret. GAME ON is the second musical to be given a world premiere from Pittsburgh CLO's inaugural SPARK festival, which showcased musicals designed to cultivate the next generation of small-cast shows that will thrive in small venues around the country. GAME ON is written by Pittsburgh CLO alums Marcus Stevens and David Dabbon. Transport Group's world premiere musical, Renascence, just began performances at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. Renascence has music by Carmel Dean (musical director If/Then, American Idiot), book by Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), and lyrics from the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. The musical is directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III and Dick Scanlan. The opening is set for Thursday, October 25 at 7:30pm.

5th Wall Theatre is proud to announce the selection of four eminently talented actresses to take on the bloody tale of accused axe murderess Lizzie Borden in LIZZIE, a rock opera musical filled with the adrenaline of a rock concert and the intrigue of one of America's most blood-curdling murder mysteries.  LIZZIE puts a unique spin on the Lizzie Borden tale, reimagining it through a lens that combines Victorian era propriety and a give-no-cares riot girl attitude with book by Tim Maner, music by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, and lyrics by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer and Tim Maner. Reviewers have praised the LIZZIE, calling it "a furiously performed declaration of feminist strength and survivorship" (Chicago Tribune) and "presented with wall-rattling glee...deliciously watchable" (New York Times).

The gas station 'Pump Boys' sell high octane fuel on Highway 57 in Grand Ole Opry country, and the 'Dinettes' run the Double Cupp diner next door. Together they fashion an evening of country western songs that received unanimous raves on and off-Broadway. This musical celebrates and embodies the value of friendship and life's simple pleasures. 'Pump Boys and Dinettes' opens Today, August 31st at 8:00pm and runs through the month of September.

Village Theatre is thrilled to kick off the 2018-2019 Season with the World Premiere of The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes by Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond (Romantics Annonymous at the Old Globe in London, Disney Channel's Vampirina). One thing's for sure - country musicals are an awful lot of fun. There aren't very many of them and, if you can name one at all, it's most likely THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS or THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM. But there is another rarely produced gem that is just as enjoyable - PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES - the fun-loving retro revue written by its original cast (John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel, and Jim Wann).

PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES was my first Broadway musical, so it not only holds a special place in my heart, but I still remember most of the lyrics. Running for 577 performances in 1982-83 and earning a Tony nomination for Best Musical, PUMP BOYS was 'the little show that could' with just six cast members and a small set. But the characters and songs captured many fans who came out to relive the experience at Feinstein's/54 Below July 22.

Folk revolutionary Guthrie showed you can strum a revolution with joy. Current troubadour David M. Lutken and friends celebrate the fascinating, beautiful, and sometimes tragic life of the legend who inspired Dylan, Springsteen, DiFranco, and an entire songwriting tradition. Featuring 15 instruments, 25 songs, and comprised almost entirely of Guthrie's own words, Woody Sez runs August 1-26 on the Leonard C. Haas Stage in Malvern.
