Smack - il musical e il primo musical originale italiano a tematica gay. Sull'onda di successi internazionali come Priscilla, Kinky Boots e Everybody's talking about Jamie, Smack si configura come un musical comedy brillante e pop con l'obiettivo di raccontare a un pubblico vasto e trasversale - il pubblico del musical, appunto - il mondo lgbt, contribuendo cosi a combattere la discriminazione e la diffidenza.

The world's preeminent classical guitar competition, the Parkening International Guitar Competition, has selected 15 standout competitors for its fifth triennial competition. Representing six countries, they will vie for the largest prize purse among guitar competitions, competing at Pepperdine University from Thursday, May 30, through Saturday, June 1, 2019, on the University's campus in Malibu, California.  Renowned guitar virtuoso Christopher Parkening, the competition's namesake and artistic director, is Distinguished Professor of Music at Pepperdine's Seaver College. The competition honors his lifetime commitment to fostering musical excellence in young artists as demonstrated by his mentor, Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia.

La rivincita delle principesse delle favole arriva in pompa magna al Nuovo Teatro Orione di Roma con una rappresentazione speciale del musical DISINCANTATE! LE PIÙ STRONZE DEL REAME in presenza dell'autore Dennis T. Giacino, del regista dell'edizione Off-Broadway, Fiely Matias e di Matteo Borghi che ha curato l'adattamento italiano e la regia. Disenchanted!, questo il titolo originale, ebbe il suo primo work shop nel 2009 e il suo primo reading Off-Broadway nel 2012: debutto con un limited engagement al Theater at St. Clements nel 2014 per poi trasferirsi con un open engagement al Westside Theater nel 2015. La prima edizione italiana del 2016 si aggiudico quattro BroadwayWorld Italy Award (miglior musical con partitura non originale e migliori coreografie, direzione musicale e regia) ed il premio come miglior musical al MUSICALDAY dello stesso anno.

With so many wordy productions from playwrights ready to wax philosophical about any issue, it's easy to forget that true dramatic excellence comes not from beautiful words but beautiful emotions honestly portrayed. If, like me, you are not fluent in Spanish you shouldn't be scared of El Viejo, El Joven Y El Mar which opened at GALA Hispanic Theatre on Saturday night. After all, you'll still understand most of the action even if you aren't following everything on the provided supertitles thanks to some splendid performances. While the play fumbles with some unnecessary plot points that overextend the runtime, GALA has still provided an enjoyable evening at the theater.
