Deidrie Henry In LADY DAY Comes to Garry Marshall Theatre

Garry Marshall Theatre presents Deidrie Henry in the Broadway play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill by Lanie Robertson for 15 performances May 15 to June 2, 2019 (press opening is Friday, May 17). The director is Gregg T. Daniel and playing Jimmy Powers is musical director Abdul Hamid Royal. Daniel most recently directed The Mountaintop for Garry Marshall Theatre.

Bebe Neuwirth Joins Philadelphia Theatre Company's 45th Anniversary Season

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off the 2019-2020 season with a bang. For the company's 45th season, Producing Artistic Director Paige Price and Managing Director Emily Zeck are excited to welcome two-time Tony and Emmy Award winner Bebe Neuwirth to star in their season opener, the Philadelphia premiere of Adam Bock's raucous, funny and unexpectedly touching A Small Fire. The play is set to run October 18-November 10, with Opening Night on October 23. The company also announced that Sarna Lapine will make her local directing debut. Rehearsals Begin For World Premiere Of Lucas Hnath's DANA H. At Douglas

Rehearsals begin for the world premiere of Lucas Hnath's "Dana H." at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in a co-production with Goodman Theatre. Adapted from interviews with Dana Higginbotham, conducted by Steve Cosson, directed by Les Waters and featuring Deirdre O'Connell in the title role, "Dana H." will begin previews May 26, open June 2 and continue through June 23, 2019.

Musical Theater Today Hosts Book Launch & Signing Featuring Georgia Stitt, Joe Iconis & More

The third volume of the anthology releases this evening! The publication will be celebrated with a party at The Pershing Square Signature Center and will feature book signings at 6:30PM by various contributors in the volume, including composer-lyricist Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop), director Stephen Brackett (Be More Chill), composer-lyricist Timothy Huang (American Morning), composer-lyricist Peter Mills (The Hello Girls), and Cara Loelle Reichel (Producing Artistic Director, Prospect Theater Company).

Lois Smith Will Be Honored At Playwrights Horizons Spring Gala

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director Tim Sanford, Managing Director Leslie Marcus) today announces that its 2019 Spring Gala will honor the beloved and prolific actress Lois Smith, a two-time Tony Award nominee whose six-decade career in theater, film, and television has included memorable performances in numerous Playwrights Horizons productions. The event will convene Playwrights Horizons' diverse community of writers, artists, and supporters on Monday, May 6 at 583 Park Avenue.

California Shakespeare Theater Opens Its 45th Season With A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

California Shakespeare Theater opens its 2019 summer season with A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, playing May 22 through June 16, 2019 at the Bruns Amphitheater in Orinda. The season launches with A Pay What You Can performance on Wednesday, May 22nd. Queens Theatre To Present Comedy RELIC This May

The Queens Theatre may cause a stir when it premieres Relic, or, I Was Bubbie's Favorite by Joel Feinman (as told to Lojo Simon), an outrageous new comedy by playwright Lojo Simon and directed by Will Pomerantz, that explores the cult of celebrity, religion and idolatry in modern times. The play, set in the Queens neighborhood of Rego Park, revolves around an out-of-work actor who finds what purports to be the world's greatest relic in his grandmother's attic, offering him the fame and fortune he always sought. He discovers, however, that it may not be all he wants! Performances will be held Friday, May 10th through Sunday, May 19th (Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays).

A.R.T. Extends New Musical WE LIVE IN CAIRO

Due to popular demand, the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T) has added an additional week of performances to the run of its world premiere production of We Live in Cairo written by brothers Daniel Lazour and Patrick Lazour. The production, currently in rehearsal under the direction of Obie Award winner Taibi Magar, will now close Sunday, June 23.

Golden, Gray, and Lampert Star in Reading of THE TATTOOED LADY

Rhinebeck Writers Retreat is producing a reading of the new musical THE TATTOOED LADY, book by Obie-winner Erin Courtney, music and lyrics by Lucille Lortel-winner Max Vernon, and direction by Ellie Heyman. THE TATTOOED LADY was selected for Rhinebeck Writers Retreat's Triple R program, giving the writers 2 readings and a residency to do extensive development of their musical in a compressed time frame.

Noah Galvin Will Join WAITRESS as 'Ogie'; Caitlin Houlahan Set to Return as 'Dawn'

The producers of the Broadway musical Waitress announced today that Noah Galvin (Dear Evan Hansen, 'The Real O'Neals') will take over the role of Ogie and Caitlin Houlahan (Girl From the North Country) will return to the role of Dawn on Monday, April 29. Eddie Jemison and Lenne Klingaman will play their final performances as Ogie and Dawn respectively on Sunday, April 28.

The Green Room 42 Celebrates Buckingham Nicks With Brad Simmons, Michael Holland And Jon Weber

THE GREEN ROOM 42 Broadway's newest intimate concert venue will present Buckingham Nicks, from Brad Simmons, Michael Holland, and Jon Weber, on Friday, May 3 at 9:30 PM. In this one-night-only event, three of New York City's most in-demand music directors will reinterpret and honor the extraordinary artists Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Before they joined Fleetwood Mac, the dynamic duo released one masterpiece self-titled album. Soon after, their luscious hit songs ( Rhiannon, Monday Morning, Landslide, and Don't Let Me Down Again ) were in heavy radio rotation. And then, the Rumours album gave us Dreams, Go Your Own Way, I Don't Want To Know, and The Chain.
