The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center has announced the eighth weekly line-up of its new global series, SEGAL TALKS. New York, US, and international theatre artists, curators, researchers and academics will talk daily for one hour with Segal Center's director, Frank Hentschker, about life and art in the Time of Corona and speak about challenges, sorrows, and hopes for the new Weltzustanda?" the State of the World. The Segal Center is the only theatre institution in NYC and the US creating original content.

PRELUDE FESTIVAL Announces Full Lineup

Nilaja Sun Serves As Guest Artist For PROJECT: TRANSFORM

3VIEWS ON THEATER Launches This Fall

The Lillys - in partnership with a broad coalition of theater artists - is pleased to announce 3Views on Theater, a new online journal aimed to expand and deepen theater journalism, writing in many voices about our community. 3Views will generate original content in three categories: Reviews, Interviews, and Purviews (articles submitted by theater artists including responses to reviews, original reviews, opinion pieces, and features).

Phillip Howze's World Premiere SELF PORTRAITS Announced At BRIC

BRIC, celebrating 40 years as the leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, announces the world premiere of acclaimed playwright Phillip Howze's multidisciplinary play Self Portraits (April 24-27), an intimate, impressionistic collection of personal meditations framing and reframing the Black body in America today. In the midst of the BRIC OPEN-BRIC's annual arts and ideas festival-Howze's new work will activate the space in unconventional ways, using the organs of a theater to interrogate the boundaries of form and the limits of bodies, to witness together what's seen and what's often imperceptible. Described by Howze as his "most personal work to date…born from a spirit of intentional disruption and curiosity," Self Portraits both explodes theatricality beyond the proscenium while imploding it into intimate, ghostly, separately enacted fragments.

SUGAR IN OUR WOUNDS Receives the 2018 Laurents/Hatcher Award

The Trustees of The Laurents / Hatcher Foundation, Inc. are pleased to announce that SUGAR IN OUR WOUNDS by Donja R. Love is the recipient of the Laurents / Hatcher Foundation Award. Mr. Love will receive $50,000, and Manhattan Theatre Club, who will present the world premiere in June 2018, will receive $100,000 towards the production.

Clubbed Thumb Announces Winners of the 2017 Biennial Commission

Five time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb (Maria Striar, Producing Artistic Director; Sarah McLellan, Managing Director; Michael Bulger, Associate Artistic Director) has announced the winners of the seventh Clubbed Thumb Biennial Commission. Playwrights Angela Hanks and Gabrielle Reisman will split the $15,000 award, each also receiving two years of development support. Three finalists were also named: Gracie Gardner, Daniel Glenn and Paul Cameron Hardy, each of whom will receive a $1,000 award and an opportunity to workshop their plays.

The Lark Will Stage A BareBones Production Of Donja R. Love's IN THE MIDDLE

The Lark announces that after a five year hiatus, its BareBones program will return in March 2018, with a workshop production of In the Middle by Donja R. Love (soft, Sugar in Our Wounds) to be directed by Saheem Ali (Twelfth Night, The Public Theater). In the Middle is the third and final play in Love's trilogy, The Love* Plays, a surrealistic exploration of *Queer Love during pivotal moments in Black History: Slavery (Sugar in Our Wounds), The Civil Rights Movement (Fireflies), and the Black Lives Matter movement (In the Middle). The workshop will run at The Lark's BareBones Studio from March 2 11, 2018, at 311 West 43rd Street, 5th Floor, in New York City.

The Public Slates 2017 Emerging Writers Group Spotlight Series

The Public Theater has announced the line-up for the popular Spotlight Series of free staged readings of new plays by The Public's Emerging Writers Group, beginning on Wednesday, May 31 and running through Monday, June 26.
