The Statue of Liberty Museum, a new museum that celebrates the Statue of Liberty's history, influence, and legacy in the world, will open on Thursday, May 16, 2019 on Liberty Island.

First Stage concludes its 2018/19 mainstage season with a sparkling new adaptation of TINKER BELL, written by playwright Patrick Flynn and based on the works of Sir J.M. Barrie. This family-friendly adventure brings to the stage characters audiences know and love - Peter Pan, Wendy, the Lost Boys and Captain Hook - but told all from the unique perspective of the feisty fairy, Tinker Bell. With over a dozen different puppets, original music and even some potent fairy dust, Milwaukee families will get to experience theater magic at its best. The world of Neverland will come to life in the Todd Wehr Theater like it has never been seen before! Audience members young and old won't want to miss taking this fantastic voyage in TINKER BELL.

Roald Dahl's novel, MATILDA was published in 1988 to join his other popular children's books; among them, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, THE WITCHES and BFG. In 2010 The Royal Shakespeare Company commissioned a musical version and MATILDA THE MUSICAL was born in London's West End. ZACH's production includes two youth casts, I had the opportunity to see the 'Young Orange Cast'.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), the professional North Fulton theatre company, will finish its 26th season with the over-the-top, 1920s gangster romp that isBullets Over Broadway The Musical by Woody Allen. Based on the film Bullets Over Broadway by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath, the production will be directed by GET Associate Artistic Director James A. Donadio, with musical direction by S. Renee Clark and choreography by Lauren Brooke Tatum. It runs April 11th through April 28th, 2019 at the company's home in the Roswell Cultural Arts Center and is graciously sponsored by The Malon D. Mimms Company.

Matilda's forays into her fictional world of devil-may-care adventure, oftentimes aided by her gift for telekinesis or her penchant for clever tricks (like switching her father's hair oil with her mother's peroxide is just one of her intriguingly contrived comeuppances) - which is at once darker than other offerings of similar ilk, yet somehow rather more confectionary than even the fluffiest of musical comedies that have come before or since - lend themselves exquisitely to Matilda the Musical, the stage version of the tale that makes an impact due to its somehow hopeful outlook, despite everything that exists to crush the spirit of its young protagonist.

 ZACH Theatre announces cast for the Austin premiere of the Tony Award-winning hit, Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, running April 3 - May 12, 2019 in The Topfer.  Based on the much-loved children's book by Roald Dahl, featuring music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and a Tony Award-winning book by Dennis Kelly, ZACH's Associate Artistic Director Abe Reybold and Director of Education Nat Miller will co-direct this riotously uplifting musical that will make audiences of all generations burst with joy.

Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for its Regional Premiere of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, featuring Chicago resident Audrey Edwards and Warrenville native Natalie Galla sharing the title role. With book by Dennis Kelly, music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and orchestrations and additional music by Chris Nightingale, Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical is directed and choreographed by Mitch Sebastian and runs April 26 June 23, 2019, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, May 2 at 8:00 p.m.

James Toland Vocal Arts, Inc. announced today the semifinalists for its prestigious JTVA Vocal Competition. As a not-for-profit corporation, JTVA supports gifted, emerging singers by providing exposure to expert judging, master classes, performance opportunities before live audiences, and monetary awards.

How often do you get the chance to see a musical engineered for the entire family...one that is both entertaining and illuminating? Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical is a sumptuous treat for the eyes, ears and mind. Imagination runs amok in choreography, staging and the casting of some amazingly talented children. To get a bevy of child actors to essay these little 'maggots' so incredibly well for two and a half hours is no minor feat. It's like the song claims: it's a 'miracle!' Da Camera of Houston's 2018-19 chamber music series continues with a performance by the New York Philharmonic String Quartet at Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, on Friday, March 29, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. This concert marks the ensemble's long-awaited Houston debut.

Citadel Theatre Company will close its 2018-19 season with the world premiere of a "musical remembrance" written and performed by one of Chicago's best-loved actors, Ross Lehman.
