Granbury Theatre Company Adds Three Performances Of MAMMA MIA!

Granbury Theatre Company has added three opportunities to see the popular musical Mamma Mia! at the historic Granbury Opera House.

The added performances are:

  • Thursday, March 14 at 7:30pm
  • Thursday, March 21 at 7:30pm
  • Sunday, March 24 at 7:30pm

Mamma Mia! is part of the theatre company's Broadway on the Brazos season and will continue with regularly scheduled performances through March 24. All twenty of the original performances are nearly sold out, according to GTC president Micky Shearon.

According to Music Theatre International, ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

Originally conceived by Judy Craymer, music and lyrics are by Benny Anderson and Björn Ulvaeus with some songs by Stig Anderson and book by Catherine Johnson. A 2008 movie starred Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, and Pierce Brosnan.

Leading the Opera House production are Mikki Lewis as Sophie Sheridan and Amanda Williams Ware as her mother, Donna. Others in the cast are Fatima Austin, Bob Beck, Aaron Brooks, Miles Emerson, Stephanie Felton, Tim Herndon, Bradley McKinney, Courtney Mitchell, John Pollock, Micky Shearon, and Stephanie Simmons.

Rounding out the ensemble are Elizabeth Baker, Kevin Baum, Bailey Brewer, Ashtyn Campbell, Levi Casler, JD Choate, Brandi Gilez, Alaina Gunter, Connie Ingram, Chelsea Manning, Alex Owens, Justus Peters, Jade Reneau, Cheyenne Shreve, Tori Townsend, and Kristi Wood.

The musical is under the direction of Jay Lewis assisted by Nathan Early, and Greg Doss is leading music. Choreography is by Jadie Phelps assisted by Stephanie Simmons. Designers for the production are: Wendy Searcy-Woode, scenery; Haden Capps, sound; Hank Baldree, lighting; Drenda Lewis, costumes; Gaylene Carpenter, props. Whitney Shearon is the stage manager.

Performances times are 7:30pm on Fridays, 2pm and 7:30pm on Saturdays, and 2pm on Sundays. Showtimes for the three added shows are 7:30pm.

Tickets are available now through the GTC box office at (817) 579-0952 or online at www.granburytheatrecompany.org. Ticket prices are $35 for prime seating and $30 in standard seating. Discounts are available for senior citizens, active duty military personnel, veterans, students, and children as well as for groups of ten or more.

Granbury Theatre Company is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that manages the Granbury Opera House, produces critically-acclaimed plays and musicals, and hosts concerts and other special events. The company also includes the Granbury Theatre Academy, which offers after-school and summer programs to provide acting, dance, and singing instruction for children and youth.
