Washington Concert Opera will continue their 2023/24 season, “Escape with Opera,” coming off their critically-acclaimed December presentation of Rossini’s Ermione. Learn more about the cast of La Rondine here!

On Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Lisner Auditorium, Washington Concert Opera (WCO) will present one of Verdi's first works, Nabucco, an opera that catapulted his career and is considered a masterpiece as well as the first patriotic opera of its time.

OPERA America invites opera appreciators and professionals to explore a new collection of anecdotes, memories, and reflections on the past half-century of opera in the United States.

On Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30pm,  Vocal Arts DC presents mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton with composer—pianist Jake Heggie in concert at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. This program will include selections by Henry Purcell, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, and Florence Price.

On Tuesday, March 15, Vocal Arts DC will present soprano Elena Villalón in recital with pianist Kathleen Kelly. The concert will take place at 7:30pm at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Terrace Theater.

On May 28, 2021 Vocal Arts DC in collaboration with Avie Records will release The Journey Home: Live from the Kennedy Center. Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, the concert, which sold-out at the time, explores timeless themes of longing, loss, love, and the search for peace in the wake of catastrophe.

Washington Concert Opera announces three new digital program offerings with the intent of breaking down common barriers to opera including cost, travel and contextual understanding. 

New York City-based retro-rock group The Fopps bring their singular brand of British Invasion-styled garage-rock to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, July 26, at 9pm.

The 2019 first-place winner of last Thursday's Manhattan School of Music's prestigious Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition is soprano Hyeree Shin, a Professional Studies Certificate candidate at the School. Ms. Shin received $20,000 in prize money to be used towards her professional development.

As part of their Conscious Film Convergence (CFC), the ILLUMINATE Film Festival hosts the extraordinary Take Twenty Mentoring Sessions. A daring and bold take on the classic comedy that combines the language of Shakespeare with contemporary rhythms and movement, What You Will is conceived and co-directed by BRT Artistic Director Keith Baker and Donald Byrd, acclaimed choreographer of Broadway's The Color Purple and Artistic Director of Seattle's Spectrum Dance Theater. Music direction and original music by hip hop producer Justin Ellington completes the marriage of text, high-energy movement and heart-pounding music. What You Will begins previews February 10, opens February 12, and closes March 1, 2009.
