Abingdon Theatre Company presents the Father Hamblin New Play One-Act Festival on Saturday, August 9 at 7:00PM. Three playwrights were commissioned to write on the themes of True Faith, True Commitment and/or True Friendship for the festival, and all of the plays will receive staged readings.

The John W. Engeman Theater's production of The Music Man, running March 27 - May 18, tells the story of fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill and his plans to con the people of River City, Iowa. He sells them instruments and promises to train the townspeople to be a professional band. Hill, who doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef, plans to skip town with the money without giving any music lessions at all - until he falls in love with Marian the librarian. The Actor's Temple presents Accentuate the Positive: An Evening with Johnny Mercer in a benefit evening performance. Accentuate the Positive was created & directed by Karin Baker Kayne based on the music of the award winning singer, songwriter, and lyricist Johnny Mercer. The cabaret-style show features Juliet Ewing, Bambi Jones, Patti Mariano, and Joyce Nolen, with David Hancock Turner at the piano.

The Music Man, by Meredith Willson, will close July 17, 2011 on the grounds of the beautiful Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Staten Island, just minutes from the Staten Island Ferry.
