Oregon Children's Theatre presents TOMAS & THE LIBRARY LADY

Some relationships are so special they have the power to change lives forever. Tomas, the son of migrant workers, spends long, hot days in the fields harvesting crops. But when he meets a kind librarian, she helps him find escape from the heat in the form of thousands of books. Soon his imagination takes off and Tomas discovers a surprising world filled with dinosaurs, tigers, and limitless possibilities. Through the magic of theater and songs, this heartwarming story illustrates the power of imagination, self-respect, and positive encouragement.

Can a hairless, little squirrel change the human heart? After getting sucked up by a Ulysses 2000x vacuum cleaner, a squirrel is rescued by Flora Belle Buckman, a 10-year-old self-proclaimed cynic. She names him Ulysses and discovers he has been reborn a superhero. Indeed, this once average squirrel can suddenly understand Flora, fly, and even write poetry. Together they embark on an adventure full of quirky characters and bursting with heart.

Cast Announced for World Premiere of FORTY-TWO STORIES at City Lit Theater

Douglas Post's Forty-Two Stories, a comedy set in a Lake Shore Drive high-rise condominium, will receive its world premiere full production as the third show in City Lit Theatre's 2016-17 season. The press opening will be Sunday, April 23rd at 3 pm following previews from April 14-22nd.

Buzz thinks he has the smartest pet in the world: a fly named Fly Guy! Fly Guy lovezzz to come to school with Buzz every day, and even makes his own fly friend, Fly Girl. Riding the bus to school is fun for the flies, but what happens when they find themselves on a field trip at a flyswatter factory? They'll have to outsmart the Super Swatter 6000 with their fancy fly movezzz to save the day!

Mixografia is pleased to announce the release of new editions, produced in collaboration with New York-based artist Jacob Hashimoto. Another Cautionary Tale Comes to Mind (but immediately vanishes) is a solo exhibition featuring new works by Jacob Hashimoto. The exhibition will open on Today, January 14, 2017 and will be on exhibit throughMarch 4, 2017 at the Mixografia Gallery (1419 E Adams Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90011).  There will be an opening reception honoring Jacob Hashimoto on Today, January 14 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm where he will be speaking at 4:30pm in conversation with Former Senior Curator of MOCA, Alma Ruiz.

Akvavit Theatre Announces New Artistic Leadership; Associate Company Members

Akvavit Theatre, Chicago's premier Nordic Theatre Company, will launch 2017 with new artistic leadership and an expanded ensemble. Five year Akvavit veterans Kirstin Franklin and Breahan Pautsch will serve as the company's new Co-Artistic Directors, succeeding Artistic Director Chad Eric Bergman and Managing Artistic Director Bergen Anderson, who have served since 2009. Bergman and Anderson will remain with Akvavit as Founders and as part of the original company, which still includes Mark Litwicki and Matthew Isler. Additionally, Akvavit welcomes eight new Associate company members: Richard Gilbert, Joe Giovannetti, Sarah Giovannetti, Nigel Harsch, Paulette Hicks, Micah Kronlokken, Julie Mitre and Amber Robinson.

This silly and (only a little) spooky world premiere musical is based on the beloved book series from R.L. Stine. 

Mixografia to Present Series of Editions in Collaboration with Jacob Hashimoto

 Mixografia is pleased to announce the release of new editions, produced in collaboration with New York-based artist Jacob Hashimoto. This series of Mixografia prints are inspired by the artist's practice of creating intricate installations from layers of rice paper and bamboo kites held together by fishing wire. Each print consists of layers of delicate kites that have been carefully arranged on a rough wooden work surface, resembling the studies for installations that the artist creates in his studio.
