THE SYRINGA TREE is a 2019 Standard Bank Ovation Award winner at the National Arts Festival. I was lucky enough to catch a performance at NAF and this production blew me away. It's a very good thing that this production is coming to Cape Town now and more people will get a chance to see this beautiful piece of theatre.

As relevant today as it was for its debut 20 years ago, this rendition of The Syringa Tree is touchingly heartbreaking and beautiful. At its debut at the National Arts Festival this year, it received a Standard Bank Ovation Award and was heralded in the Spotlight newspaper as 'fast paced and well polished.'

The award-winning Skylight Theatre Company will be accepting applications for the 4th round of its well-regarded Skylight PlayLab, headed by renowned playwright and screenwriter Shem Bitterman. Interested playwrights from the Southern California area can apply from December 15, 2015 until January 31, 2016 for the upcoming 2016/17 Season.

The UofSC Department of Theatre and Dance will present a special two-night only performance of The Syringa Tree, the award-winning apartheid era memory play by Pamela Gien, September 26-27 at Drayton Hall Theatre.

Theatre Horizon begins its 10th Anniversary season by taking audiences into South Africa during Apartheid with Pamela Gien's renowned memory play, The Syringa Tree. This lovely work is set to run October 16-November 9. It opens Thursday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. All shows are performed at Theatre Horizon's home space at 401 Dekalb Street. Tickets cost $20-$38. Discounts are available for students and senior citizens. Free tickets are also available for Norristown residents with proof of residency. Theatre Horizon unveils its 10th Anniversary Season, the third in its home at 401 Dekalb Street. This year, the theatre sets out to showcase works that deal with apartheid in South Africa, adulthood through a fairy tale, and homelessness. The season will include Pamela Gien's The Syringa Tree, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into The Woods, and Suzan-Lori Park's In The Blood. In conjunction with In The Blood, the theatre is conducting a county-wide project called Imagine No Homelessness. This thrilling season begins in October and runs through May. Two estranged brothers face off in search of the truth about the troubled legacy of their shared past. Larry Moss directs the Los Angeles premiere of In A Dark Dark House by Neil LaBute, opening July 26 at the Matrix Theatre.
