In 2022, West Australian Opera celebrates stories of hope, passion and purpose in a program that offers audiences a range of experiences. From opera at the company's home at His Majesty's Theatre to performing in iconic West Australian venues, Government House Ballroom and the WACA Ground. 

'On the Edge: Puppets in Contemporary Culture”  A conversation with Avenue Q's Rick Lyon and Nehprii Amenii has been announced at Museum of the City of New York on December 9th.

After a highly successful presentation at the New Musicals Lab, Collard & Rosenblatt's Like the Wind will receive a staged reading on December 19th and 20th. Directed by Daniella Caggiano, with music direction by Rai Arsa Artha and stage management by Isabel Schwartzberg, the two-night only staged reading will debut at The Brick in Brooklyn, NY.

The Theater J Patty Abramson Jewish Play Prize awards $3,000 and a stage reading to a promising emerging woman playwright in honor of a new play that celebrates, explores, and/or struggles with the complexities and nuances of the Jewish experience.

Page 73 has announced 10 semifinalists for the 2022 Page 73 Playwriting Fellowship. From a pool of over 300 applicants, Page 73 has selected Melis Aker, Syreeta Briggs, Vichet Chum, Kate Douglas, Ryan Drake, Marvin González De León, Majkin Holmquist, Deepa Purohit, Gab Reisman, and Haygen-Brice Walker.

IAMA Theatre Company has selected a diverse set of playwrights to join its third annual Class of '22 Under 30 Playwrights Lab. Emerging Los Angeles-based writers Sowmya Ashokkumar, A'raelle Flynn-Bolden, Karyn Peyton, Ebony Priddie, Dylan Schifrin and Daysha Veronica each brings a unique voice and point of view to the IAMA table.

Vivid Stage, formerly Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, will present the world premiere production of Water in My Hands by Emma Gibson from December 2 through 12. All audience members will be asked to show proof of vaccination at the box office.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation has announced the recipient and three finalists for its annual Zelda Fichandler Award. The Fichandler Award recognizes directors and choreographers who have demonstrated great accomplishment to date with singular creativity and deep investment in a particular community or region.

Theatre production company Parity Productions, the only New York theatre company that ensures that they fill at least 80% of the creative roles on their own productions—playwrights, directors, and designers—with women, trans, and gender-expansive artists and offers free tools to encourage the rest of the theatre industry to do the same, has awarded two commissions to Kelley Nicole Girod for This Stretch of Montpelier and M Sloth Levine for At Hotel MacGuffin. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 10th as a hybrid event over zoom and in person at the Manny Cantor Center.
