As last season's closer, Geva Theatre Center's production of Million Dollar Quartet was a complete sell-out and was extended for an additional week. By popular demand, the show is back for a limited run, special production in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage from June 14 to July 8. With a book by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott, based on an original concept by Floyd Mutrux and inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, Million Dollar Quartet is directed by Hunter Foster.

Redhouse will close its 2017-18 season with the ever-popular musical La Cage aux Folles, book by Harvey Feirstein, based on the play by Jean Poiret. Performances will take place at Redhouse Arts Center, from May 31 - June 10, 2018. In addition, Redhouse will celebrate its Grand Opening of its new home at 400 S. Salina Street with a special event and ribbon cutting taking place June 1st prior to the opening night show. La Cage aux Folles, based on the same 1973 play which was also the inspiration for the movie "The Birdcage" starring Nathan Lane and Robin Williams, will close the 2017/18 season. This comedic and heartfelt show features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, composer of Broadway hits Hello, Dolly! and Mame.

Janis Joplin is alive and well and rocking the Fletcher Opera Theater at The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Directed by Randy Johnson, the creator, writer, and director of the 2014 Tony Award nominated production, North Carolina Theatre's A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN pays homage to the rock icon and resurrects the souls of the singers who inspired her.

This week, North Carolina Theatre pays tribute to Janis Joplin and her influences by bringing Randy Johnson's 2014 Tony Award nominated A Night with Janis Joplin to the AJ Fletcher Opera House. Johnson not only wrote and directed the Broadway musical, but he is also directing the North Carolina Theatre production. Sharing the role of Joplin are Paige McNamara and Francesca Ferrari, both of whom say stepping into the rock icon's shoes, sharing her legacy, and working with Johnson is a dream come true.
