What good is sitting alone in your room this week? If you don't already have plans to see a Broadway show, come out to see your favorite Broadway stars in a cabaret act instead. After Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. The Classic American Songbook Series continues at Feinstein's/54 Below on Sunday, March 24at 7 PM and 9:30PM with GOT RHYTHM: THE GERSHWIN BROTHERS, featuring Klea Blackhurst, George Dvorsky, Nicolas King and Rebecca Luker. Written and hosted by Deborah Grace Winer, GOT RHYTHM will feature arrangements by Musical director John Oddo and stage direction by Mark Waldrop, with Oddo on piano, James Saporito on drums and Jay Leonhart on bass.

There were many places around the world where the music of The Great American Songbook was being performed last night, but none more significant than the concert celebrating the 5th Anniversary of Dick Robinson's Legends Radio 100.3FM, the most successful privately owned radio station in the United States.

The Tedd Firth Trio started January 2019 off in true genius form with a week of performances for their debut at the Birdland Theater on West 44th St. in NYC. The show had Mr. Firth taking control of the mic and hosting an evening of exciting music featuring Tedd Firth on Piano, David Finck on Bass, and Mark McLean on Drums. Each of the 4 nights of performances also featured a different guest artist singing a few tunes from their repertoire...songs sung in their own solo shows so often accompanied by Mr. Firth.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presented Broadway/television stars Tom Wopat and Linda Purl, who celebrated the holidays together in "Home For The Holidays."

The silent auction item at The New York Pops annual gala/concert held at Carnegie Hall and the Mandarin Hotel in April, offered a pianist to play at your private party complete with catering by Trattoria del Arte. The Pops Concert and Gala's proceeds help finance The Pops/Ed Programs. For the third year, the winning bidder got much more than she bargained for. Not only did the advertised pianist (Stephen Sorokoff) appear, but also a slew of New York's must celebrated keyboard artists and entertainers joined the festivities.

Deborah Grace Winer was certainly on the right track last night as she hosted her latest creative musical adventure 'New York: Big City Songbook' at the new Birdland Theater. Deborah is well known to New Yorkers for the imaginative and quality presentations she produced for the Lyrics & Lyricists Series at the 92Y, which she led for 9 seasons. It's difficult to construct a show for New Yorkers about New York, we've seen it all…haven't we? but this smart show with vocalists Klea Blackhurst, La Tanya Hall and Nicolas King (real New Yorkers because as Deborah pointed out they come from everywhere) offered a kaleidoscopic vision of life in the city.

Acclaimed singer/pianist Billy Stritch returned to the Birdland Theater stage on Wednesday, October 17, with two shows. The Grammy-nominated performer entertained with a selection of jazz, popular standards and bossa nova by a range of songwriters including Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen, Michel Legrand and the Bergmans, and Brazilian composers Antonio Carlos Jobim and Ivan Lins.

For three decades, the unofficial launch of 'autumn in New York' has been marked by the annual Cabaret Convention of The Mabel Mercer Foundation. This year, their four individual concerts will once again be presented at 6 p.m. at the Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Today, October 9thand running through Friday, October 12th. More than seventy diverse vocalists -- ranging in age from seventeen to ninety -- are scheduled to entertain; thirteen of these will make their New York Cabaret Convention debuts during the 2018 performances.
