Chicago Dancemakers Forum partners with The Nature Conservancy to present a series of original dance performances centered on stewardship and ecological exploration called Natural Encounters. Past Chicago Dancemakers Forum awardees Nejla Yatkin, Ayako Kato, Nico Rubio, and Erin Kilmurray will present immersive dance works at Indian Ridge Marsh, Hegewisch Marsh, and Big Marsh on the city's southeast side on Sept. 7 at 10:00 a.m., Sept. 21 at 4:00 p.m. and Oct. 5 at 4:00 p.m. These events are presented as part of the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks program. All three events are free and open to the public.

The evening will include a cocktail reception, an awards presentation featuring videos by Wills Glasspiegel and Brandon "Chief Manny" Calhoun, and live performances by 2015 Lab Artist Benjamin Wardell (The Cambrians), 2010 Lab Artist Meida McNeal (Honey Pot Performance), and Khecari - 2008 Lab Artist Jonathan Meyer and 2009 Lab Artist Julia Antonick.
Chicago Dancemakers Forum announces the six recipients of the 2019 Lab Artist Awards. The Kleban Foundation has announced the recipients of the 29th Annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre. The judges declared a tie in the most promising musical theatre lyricist category between Sarah Hammond and Shaina Taub. The Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Charlie Sohne. The 2019 prizes will be presented on Monday, February 4, 2018, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI at ASCAP.
