The Octagon Theatre and Theatre by the Lake have today announced the cast for their upcoming production of Kes, Barry Hines' powerful modern classic drama that comes to the Octagon Theatre Bolton from Thu 10 March - Sat 2 April and to Theatre by the Lake from Wed 6 - Sat 30 April

Sophia tells the story of Sophia Jex-Blake, a formidable woman who battled for a woman's right to a medical education and license and who went on to become the first practising female doctor in Scotland. In 1869 Blake applied for admission to the Medical Faculty of the University of Edinburgh, only for her application to be rejected on the grounds that the University could not make the necessary arrangements 'in the interest of one lady'. Poet’s inspiring new play tells the story of Blake’s campaign and the struggles for her and her fellow women to secure the right to a medical education.

The cast for Storyhouse’s A Christmas Carol has been unveiled. The cast have commenced online rehearsals using Zoom, and will then move on to socially-distanced rehearsals on the Storyhouse thrust stage. A Christmas Carol opens on Saturday 7 November.

New adaptations of The Suicide and Miss Julie and Jessica Swale's acclaimed drama Blue Stockings will be staged at Storyhouse in Chester this spring as the venue continues its Season 11 of drama.

Alexander Vlahos (BBC's Versailles & Merlin) has been confirmed to star as Captain Hook in a revival of the original 1904 Peter Pan play by J.M. Barrie. The production will also be the first Park Theatre production ever to feature flying effects. Casting for Regent Park Open Air Theatre's production of To Kill A Mockingbird was announced today. Daniel Betts will play Atticus Finch alongside Zackary Momoh as Tom Robinson, Christopher Akrill as Boo Radley. Original cast member and composer Phil King will reprise his role.
