Signature Theatre will present CABARET, directed by Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (Signature's Sunday in the Park with George, Dreamgirls), running in the MAX Theatre May 12 - June 28, the John Kander and Fred Ebb classic is the final production of Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary. The production will star Taylor (NBC's Smash, Broadway's Rock of Ages) as The Emcee and Weed (Off-Broadway's Heathers: The Musical, Found) as Sally Bowles. People swarmed to purchase these 'unique' Torahs, unknowingly buying scrolls that actually had the same story...

Olney Theatre Center, a mid-Atlantic destination for professional theater performance and education, proudly announces two world premieres, two legendary musicals, a classic thriller, and a rotating rep of Gilbert & Sullivan as part of its 10-play 78th season, the company's largest. Headlining the season is Carmen: An Afro-Cuban Jazz Musical, set in the waning days of Batista's regime in Cuba, written and directed by Tony® Award-nominee Moises Kaufman (The Laramie Project Cycle) with music from two-time Grammy Award-winner Arturo O'Farrill. Here we have Posner's thoroughly irreverent, Jewish take on Uncle Vanya, Russian playwright Anton Chekov's classic tale of unrequited love and unfulfilled lives. Forget the theatre history lecture, however; this is pure slapstick at Chekhov's expense and nothing to be intimidated by in the least.

The all-star Summer Hummer burlesque returns for a second triumphant year, with direction by Eric Schaeffer and performances by the best - and bawdiest - talent that Washington stages have to offer. Last year the event raised more than $16,000 for the Taking Care of Our Ownemergency fund, which provides short-term assistance to Washington-area theatre artists in unexpected need. Building on that success, this year's production features an added performance and an astounding line-up of top performers from Washington and Broadway.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents the Kennedy Center production of The Guardsman in the Eisenhower Theater from May 25 to June 23, 2013. Principal casting includes Finn Wittrock as The Actor, Sarah Wayne Callies as The Actress, Julie Halston as Mother, and Shuler Hensley as The Critic. The cast also includes Annie Funke as Maid, John Ahlin as The Creditor, and Naomi Jacobson as The Female Usher. A fresh Kennedy Center adaptation based on the 1910 comedy by Hungarian playwright Ferenc Molnar, The Guardsman features a new translation by Richard Nelson and is directed by Gregory Mosher. The press opening is Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.
