Village life for Jyoti is simple: the people work hard, sing and live off the earth. She would much rather devour a delicious meal than think about a suitable partner. But when the Inspector (Art Malik) and his men arrive back in town, things quickly begin to sour. The Inspector's reign of terror sees him commit unspeakable acts against the village with young Jyoti in his sights, pushing everyone to breaking point. Will she dare scorn his advances?

Casting Announced for THE VILLAGE at Theatre Royal Stratford East

Theatre Royal Stratford East is pleased to announce the full cast for the world premiere of The Village, a new adaptation by April De Angelis of Lope de Vega's Fuenteovejuna and the first production in Nadia Fall's inaugural season as Artistic Director. The Village stars Anya Chalotra as Jyoti and Art Malik as The Inspector, they will be joined by Harki Bhambra, Sudha Bhuchar, Ameet Chana, Neil D'Souza, Souad Faress, Rina Fatania, Naeem Hayat, Scott Karim, Arian Nik, Humera Syed and Ragevan Vasan. Musicians include Nawazish Ali-Khan (Vocals, violin and harmonium), Robinkumar R Christian (Bansuri) and Keval Joshi (Percussion).

Eleanor Lang to Be the New Executive Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East

Theatre Royal Stratford East is pleased to announce that Eleanor Lang has been appointed Executive Director from 1st October. Eleanor joins Theatre Royal Stratford East from Cheek by Jowl, where she is currently Executive Director, at the start of new Artistic Director Nadia Fall's inaugural season and will be working closely with Nadia on the overall strategic leadership of the theatre.

Theatre Royal Stratford East announces further comedy and music events ahead of Nadia Fall's inaugural season which opens this September. Shoot from the Hip return to Stratford following the sell-out production of The Big Show earlier this year which marked their first solo gig. Their latest show, Break a Leg opens on 25 May. In addition, Don't Stop the Beat Productions also return to the theatre to present An Evening of Bob Marley on 19 & 20 July, after opening a hugely successful one-nighter - An Evening with Marvin Gaye back in February this year.

English Touring Theatre Announces 2018-19 Season Ahead Of 25th Anniversary

Richard Twyman, Artistic Director of English Touring Theatre, today announces the 2018-19 season ahead of the company's 25th anniversary in September, with further productions and events to be announced throughout the year. This follows ETT and Mercury Theatre Colchester's co-production of The Weir collecting the 2018 Manchester Theatre Award for Best Visiting Production on Friday.

Theatre Royal Stratford East's Celebrated Pantomime RAPUNZEL To Be Live Streamed at Hospitals

Theatre Royal Stratford East today announces the live-streaming of their acclaimed pantomime Rapunzel to children at Newham University Hospital, St Francis Hospice and Richard House Children's Hospice on 28 December at 2pm. Using the latest digital technology, the theatre will share this year's seasonal treat, Rapunzel written by Trish Cooke and Robert Hyman and directed by Associate Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East, Pooja Ghai. This special project has been made possible thanks to generous support from Galliard Homes and follows the success of last year's production of Sinbad the Sailor which was live-streamed to Newham University Hospital and Richard House Children's Hospice.

BWW Review: HIR, Bush Theatre

Upon being discharged from the Marine Corps, Isaac (Arthur Darvill) goes back home only to find an anarchically ruled household at hand of his mother (Ashley McGuire). Fed up with domestic patriarchy, Paige seized the opportunity given by her abusive husband Arthur (Andy Williams) having a stroke to turn the tables and start making the rules. She built an ally in her transsexual son Max (Griffyn Gilligan), who helps her to keep tight hold on the reins. Isaac is forced to come to terms with a reality he doesn't recognise as his own.

Bush Theatre Announces Casting for HIR Starring Arthur Darvill

Casting is announced today for the UK premiere of Hir, written by Taylor Mac (24-Decade History of Popular Music) and directed by Nadia Fall (Disgraced). Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Once) will play Isaac, Griffyn Gilligan (Teddy Ferrara) plays younger sibling Max, Ashley McGuire (Shopping and F***ing, The Suicide) will play their mom Paige and Andy Williams (The 39 Steps, War Horse) plays her husband Arnold.

The Bush Theatre Re-Opens After A Year-Long, £4.3million Major Redevelopment

???????The Bush Theatre reopens this week following the biggest capital project in the theatre's history. The £4.3million, year-long revitalisation of the venue by award-winning architects Haworth Tompkins has turned an old library built at the turn of the 20th Century into a fully accessible, modernised cultural building. 

BWW Interview: Artistic Director Madani Younis On The Bush Theatre's Reopening

This week, London's Bush Theatre reopens following a £4.3 million capital project. The building's revitalisation sees it become more sustainable and entirely accessible, with a new entrance, front-of-house area and garden terrace, improved rehearsal and dressing room facilities, an expanded main auditorium, and a new 70-seat studio space - a home for emerging artists and producers. Madani Younis, Artistic Director since 2012, discusses his hopes for the Bush.

Bush Theatre Re-Opens in March with a Week-Long Celebration

The Bush Theatre will reopen after a year-long £4.3m redevelopment, the largest capital project in the theatre's history, with a bold new season kicked off by the European Premiere of Guards at the Taj by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, directed by Jamie Lloyd (from 7 April). A brand new Studio space opens with the premiere of Barney Norris play While We're Here directed by Alice Hamilton (from 26 April).
