Furnans, who starts in the position on February 7, 2022, has a strong history with Chicago Dancemakers Forum as a 2018 Lab Artist, Elevate Chicago Dance participating artist, 2020 Lab Artists Program Mentor, and partner in the Embedded Writers Program.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago has moved its studio to a 13,000 square-foot space on the fourth floor of Water Tower Place (835 Michigan Avenue). The new facility will include a dance studio, artist lounge, office area, production storage, dressing rooms and a physical therapy area. Visitors to Water Tower Place will be able to get a partial view of rehearsals in progress as they stroll the mall.
BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that playwright and theatre professor, Paul Carter Harrison, has died at 85.While teaching at California State University, Sacramento (1970–1972), Harrison conceived and directed Melvin Van Peebles’ “Ain’t Supposed To Die a Natural Death” prior to its Broadway production, and wrote his play The Great MacDaddy which was produced by the Negro Ensemble Company in 1973, and won an Obie Award.

Through images that reflect the cosmic trinity of Varanasi, India - sacred pilgrimage routes, the Ganges River, and the patron deity Shiva, heightened by the chants of Vedic priests - the choreographers imagine a metaphorical crossing place where one may leave the mundane and enter into the world of immortality.
