BWW Review: The Sweet Sounds of August Wilson: SEVEN GUITARS at A Noise Within

Music and musicality run through the works of August Wilson like a sweet and impenetrable blues lick. There figures to be notes aplenty in any opus titled SEVEN GUITARS, the fifth play of Wilson’s cycle which is enjoying a muscular revival directed by Gregg T. Daniel at Pasadena’s A Noise Within.

BWW Blog: An Interview with Roxanna Lewis, Director of MANDY'S VOICE

This past week, I interviewed Roxanna Lewis, director of the film Mandy’s Voice. The film entails the story of “a curious and intelligent non-verbal autistic girl [who] struggles to communicate. Her mother is desperate to provide the necessary tools for survival in a world where if one is without a voice ~ one is invisible to the world as well.”

BWW Review: MAMMA MIA! at Fairfield Center Stage

On Friday, October 15, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another phenomenal production by Fairfield Center Stage, an innovative theatre company that continues to go that extra mile to bring the audience fresh new experiences with familiar shows that Fairfield Center Stage brings to life in positive ways that the audience has never seen before.  Here we go, again, with MAMMA MIA!, which is written by Catherine Johnson, based on the Swedish group Abba’s songs that were written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.  Performed outdoors on the back lawn of the Scandinavian Club, in Fairfield, CT, the venue fits the show perfectly!  With the help of the strong skills of choreographer Kelsey Kaminski, executive producer Eli Newsom and artistic director Christy McIntosh-Newsom bring out the best in this outstanding cast of talented actors and actresses who have tremendous stage chemistry with each other.  The cast members all shine forth with positive energy that radiates outwards through the audience, creating a positive vibe that enhances the audience’s enjoyment of this production, seeing how much the performers are clearly enjoying their roles.

BWW Review: LOS INOLVIDABLES at Teatro Pacific

NH Theatre Project Opens 2021-22 Season With THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE

The Uncertainty Principle is the culmination of a creative process that began in the spring of 2019, when hundreds of NHTP donors supported the creation of a theatrical program so new it was christened We Don't Know What This is Yet. Although NHTP's doors were essentially closed to the public over the past 18 months, many different creative projects emerged from this program, including the WDKWTIY Podcast, a collection of interviews from community members and creative responses from New Hampshire artists.
