Tamara Tunie  returned to Feinstein's/54 Below with her highly anticipated show which kicks  off her national cabaret tour and Broadwayworld was there last night.  The Pittsburgh daughter will wow audiences with a fresh take on the 'Legends from The Burgh,' where she repeats her sold out performance with additional, new songs celebrating the music of the legendary artists that hail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the city of Three Rivers.

On the second night of this year's 26th Annual Cabaret Convention, Jeff Harnar and Andrea Marcovicci hosted A Sentimental Journey: World War II Songs, inspired by Marcovicci's memorable Oak Room at The Algonquin show, I'll Be Seeing You--Love Songs of World War II. (The CD is highly recommended.) As always with this pair's Convention contribution, the show was a treat in part because of its singular glamour. Much of our audience was exceptionally familiar with and nostalgic about these songs. A few had to be politely quieted for singing along, more than a few took each other's hands. It seems I've heard that song before . . . the co-hosts begin, warming the room.

George Street Playhouse announced today that award-winning vocalist MAUREEN McGOVERN will make a special appearance at the New Brunswick theatre on Wednesday, September 16 at 8pm.  Joined on stage by her music director JEFF HARRIS, Ms. McGovern will offer selections from her newest show and upcoming CD, Sing, My Sisters, Sing!

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present singer Nicolas King in concert on Sunday, June 14. Nicolas performed 'Shakin' the Blues Away!' - a collection of 'feel good' songs from the worlds of Jazz, Pop and Broadway. At the 19th annual Pell Awards, Trinity Rep will award Debra Messing with the Pell Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts. John Chan, jazz promoter and owner of Chan's Fine Oriental Dining in Woonsocket will be honored with a Rhode Island Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts. Dancer and choreographer Julie Strandberg will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts and Trinity Rep's former executive director, Michael Gennaro, will be awarded with the Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts. The ceremony will be held Monday, June 15, 2015 at Trinity Rep with a reception to follow at the Providence Public Library.

ScoBar recently presented New York singer Joyce Breach at the Times Square located nightclub the Iridium. Joyce is the 2000 winner of a MAC Award for Best Jazz Performer and winner of the 1998 Bistro Award for Best CD. Joyce also received the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret Classic Award. Broadwayworld was at her recent show that featured Mike Renzi on piano and Jay Leonhart, bass.
