Eighteen new plays for the inaugural New Play Commission Scheme (NPCS) have been announced by the Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) in partnership with HighTide theatre company, UK Theatre and the Independent Theatre Council.

City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s home for contemporary plays, has announced the return of its annual fundraiser, THE BASH. On Saturday, September 10, 2022, Co-Chairs Tacy Byham, Mary McKinney Flaherty & Mark Flaherty, and Nancy Washington kick-off City Theatre’s 48th season of bold, new work. A street party like no other, THE BASH will fill the South Side campus with music, food, libations, community, and an epic dance party hosted by 1Hood.  

Leeds Playhouse and Nottingham Playhouse have announced the full cast who will star the regional premiere of Natasha Gordon's critically acclaimed play NINE NIGHT. This comedic and heartfelt production will play in Leeds from 24 September – 15 October ahead of transferring to Nottingham from 19 October – 5 November.

Mike Bartlett’s hit UK drama, Albion, will receive its Australian premiere at Seymour Centre from 27th July to 13th August, presented by Secret House, New Ghosts Theatre Company and Seymour Centre.

PRIMARY STAGES announced casting for On That Day in Amsterdam by Clarence Coo (People Sitting in Darkness) and directed by Zi Alikhan (The Boy Who Danced on Air). On That Day in Amsterdam will begin previews at 59E59’s Theater A on July 23, 2022, with opening night set for August 11 for a limited run through September 4, 2022.

First performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2011, Cock is the tale of a gay man torn after meeting and falling in love with a woman. Visceral and funny, the play tackles thorny issues rarely seen onstage. Its honest and straightforward exploration of bisexuality suggests that gay or not, people fall in love with those who can give us happiness.

C.P. Taylor’s GOOD, starring David Tennant and directed by Dominic Cooke has announced new dates  for 2022 at the Harold Pinter Theatre. The production also stars Elliot Levey (Cabaret at the Kit Kat  Club) and is designed by Vicki Mortimer. Further casting to be announced. 

Clearglass Productions premiere show Mike Bartlett’s Cock opens June 11, 2022, at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Davidson/Valentini Theatre as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival (with a preview June 6th). Clearglass’ co-founder Taubert Nadalini directs the cast of Annika Chavez, Dennis Delsing, Mathew Dunlop and Clearglass’ co-founder Sean Hemeon. Sean took some time to share some behind-the-scenes of Cock and Clearglass.

As well as work from three trailblazing playwrights Dipo Baruwa-Etti, Sami Ibrahim and Laura Lindow, Summerhall will also see the return of Chris Bush's critically acclaimed play HUNGRY which premiered at Roundabout last year.
