Abingdon Theatre Company just celebrated its 2015-2016 Season with ABINGDON: REFLECTIONS OF STARLIGHT, last night, October 26 at Espace (635 West 42nd Street in Manhattan). Richard Jay-Alexander, best known for directing Barbra Streisand and other artists in concert, directed the event, honoring Tony Award-winning costume designer Jane Greenwood, who designed Abingdon's acclaimed production of Hellman v. McCarthy; Abingdon Theatre Company's Vice Chair and former Managing Director, Heather Henderson; and one of New York's most prominent lawyers in entertainment, Mark Sendroff.

Cy Coleman once said, 'Michele Lee is a surefire powerhouse performer. She embraces a lyric like nobody can.' Following her acclaimed 54 Below debut in 2014, this all-new at 54 Below show finds the stunning Michele Lee making a rare appearance in New York for three nights only, continuing tonight and tomorrow. Ms. Lee's new concert spotlights the music of the legendary Cy Coleman, including songs like 'Nobody Does it Like Me' and 'It's Not Where You Start' from her Tony-nominated performance in the musical Seesaw, along with other magnificent work and some surprises from Coleman's songbook.

An in-store reception was hosted by Paul Stuart and The Wall Street Journal with special guest hosts two-time Grammy Award winner and a two-time Tony Award winner and 2006 American Theater Hall of Fame inductee, Patti Lupone and director and Tony Award-winning lyricist (for Hairspray) Scott Wittman. Entertainment throughout the evening was provided by the legendary Broadway orchestrator (and one of 12 people to have won all four major show business awards referred to as EGOT: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) Jonathan Tunick and his 'Broadway Moonlighters'. Michael Feinstein joined Nick Ziobro, the 17 year-old pop/jazz vocal sensation, as a special guest for his CD release concert at Birdland Jazz Club (315 West 44th Street in Manhattan) last night, May 22 at 6:00 PM. The CD's all-star band - led by Tedd Firth and featuring music Jay Leonhart on bass, Ray Marchica on drums, Brian Pareschi on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Marc Phaneuf on saxophone and clarinet - also joined the concert. Nick's debut album A Lot of Livin' to Do is produced by Michael Feinstein, the two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated vocalist, pianist and musicologist. The Actors Fund, the nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, last night presented the 2013 edition of Nothing Like a Dame: Lorna's Pink Party, a benefit for the Phyllis NewmanWomen's Health Initiative and the Dr. Philomena McAndrew Fund of Tower Cancer Research Foundation. This highly anticipated event, starring entertainment legend Lorna Luft with her special guest Liza Minnelli will continue on Monday, October 21st at 7 pm, at Birdland, 315 West 44th Street, New York City. Last night, Casey Nicholaw and Josh Marquette hosted a cocktail event to benefit the Matthew Shepard Foundation at One Museum Mile (1280 Fifth Avenue). Attendees included Broadway luminaries Jeff Blumenkrantz, Danny Burstein, Carolee Carmello, Jeanine Tesori and Michael James Scott, and stars of HGTV's Selling New York Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon. The event raised over $7,500 for the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

The word ‘colorful' doesn't begin to explain the mixture of talent that gathered last night at Birdland, New York's most iconic music room. Simply Barbra, Steven Brinberg's hilarious homage to Streisand, celebrated the diva's 70th birthday in style with special guests Marilyn Maye, Corey Mach and Karl Warden.

For those yearning for the glamour and entertainment clarity of New York nightclub life in the 30's 40's and 50's Tom Postilio's debut at this cathedral of The American Songbook was totally captivating. He may be ' SELLING NEW YORK' (real estate) as star of that HGTV show but His sold out sophisticated New York audience also bought every song he sang in his show 'This Time Around'. Tom has 'been around' in theaters and nightclubs throughout the country and appeared on NBC-TV's 'Today' show, PBS Great Performances, BBC News and CNN's ShowBiz Today. But there is nothing like seeing and hearing him LIVE. The audience was filled with 'Old Friends' which appropriately was his opening number. Pianist/Arranger Dean Schneider was right on key with his accompaniment as was Steve Laspina on Bass and Dave Meade on Drums. Mark Waldrop directed the great array of Amersican Standards and Mickey Conlon was an added treat joing Tom for 'Me And My Shadow'.

On Monday, March 21, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was pleased to present songwriter Sam Davis in concert, along with a steller cast of singers, including Kate Baldwin, Andy Mientus, Michele Ragusa, Lauren Kennedy, Heidi Blickenstaff, Danny Burstein, Philip Chaffin, Edward Hibbert, David Hyde Pierce, Matthew Scott, Chris Sieber, Jim Stanek, Bobby Steggert and Will Swenson.

'The Leading Men IV,' a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, was held Monday, May 11, at 7pm at Birdland, 315 W. 44th St. As part of the long-running Broadway at Birdland series, it featured top singers from Broadway and cabaret. John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Shrek The Musical) once again hosted, and Emmy-nominated writer, host and comic Seth Rudetsky returned as musical director, along with director Alan Muraoka (NAATCO's Falsettoland).

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine, and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, continued its 10th Anniversary season with the nightclub debut of Broadway star Cheyenne Jackson on March 2nd.

Jackie Hoffman and Mary Testa have been added to the cast of the new Broadway musical XANADU opening on Tuesday, June 26th at the Helen Hayes Theatre, 240 West 44th Street.
