BWW Review: Tapping Out the Year with DORRANCE DANCE

December 19, 2017 kicked off the season of award-winning tapper, Michelle Dorrance and her internationally-acclaimed company, Dorrance Dance, at The Joyce Theater in New York City. Michelle Dorrance and Dorrance Dance are known for pushing the limits of what tap can do, while staying true to its history and traditions. The company's highly anticipated return to the Joyce stage proved not to be a disappointment!

Performances of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein will begin Thursday December 21st at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenues). Opening Night is set for December 27th. This limited Off-Broadway engagement will run through January 7th only. Donald T. Sanders will direct.

Jacob's Pillow announces the full season lineup for Festival 2018, including U.S. company debuts, world premieres, international artists, newly commissioned work, rich historic Festival connections, and the formal presentation of work developed through the organization's growing residency program at the Pillow Lab. Jacob's Pillow is the longest-running dance festival in the United States, a National Historic Landmark, a National Medal of Arts recipient, and has recently expanded to become a year-round center for dance research and development. Festival 2018 opens on June 20, engaging visitors and community members from throughout the region and beyond, on- and off-site, through August 26.

The Joyce Theater presents Third Annual American Dance Platform

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is pleased to kick off the new year with the third annual American Dance Platform, a showcase of eight U.S.-based companies over one week at The Joyce Theater, made possible by a grant from The Harkness Foundation for Dance and dedicated to the memory of Theodore S. For 28 years, Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP) has exposed young participants and scholarship students to the teaching and experience of masters in the field like Savion Glover, Jimmy Slyde, Dianne 'Lady Di' Walker and more. CHRP alumni include many of the world's leading tap dance performers, choreographers and directors - making their mark around the world and Chicago.

BWW Review: Celebrating 10 Years of LamVar10 with the MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE COMPANY

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Lamentation Variations project- LamVar10: A Festival for New Work. Since its founding in 2007 by Graham Company Artistic Director Janet Eilber, the company has commissioned some of today's most noteworthy choreographers to create new works inspired by Graham's signature solo, Lamentation, originally created in 1930, on dancers of the company. These choreographers have included Lar Lubovitch, Michelle Dorrance, and Doug Varone, among others.

After a 10-plus-year absence, Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP) opens the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago's 2017-18 season with a program assembled by Founder and Director Lane Alexander and CHRP Artist In Residence Dani Borak. Performances are September 21-23 at the Dance Center, 1306 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.
