The Washington Pavilion will present the Sioux Falls engagement of the Tony Award®-nominated Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF in the Mary W. Sommervold Hall February 4–6, 2022.  

The American Theatre Guild will present the Colorado Springs engagement of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. This production is part of the BROADWAY IS BACK AT PIKES PEAK CENTER SERIES and takes place February 15-16, 2022.

The American Theatre Guild will present the Eugene engagement of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF coming to the Hult Center February 18–20, 2022. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is part of the BROADWAY IS BACK IN EUGENE SERIES.

The 2021-22 season of The Met: Live in HD will continue with Giuseppe Verdi's RIGOLETTO on Saturday, January 29 at 12:55 pm in the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre.

Baritone Quinn Kelsey, a commanding artist at the height of his powers, brings his searing portrayal of the title role to the Met for the first time, starring alongside soprano Rosa Feola as Gilda and tenor Piotr Beczała as the Duke of Mantua, with leading maestro Daniele Rustioni on the podium. A second run of performances in the spring features soprano Kristina Mkhitaryan, and tenor Stephen Costello, conducted by Karel Mark Chichon.

The Met rings in the new year with the gala premiere of a bold new take on Verdi's timeless tragedy from Bartlett Sher. The Tony Award­-winning director resets the opera's action in 1920s Europe, with Art Deco sets by Michael Yeargan and elegant costumes by Catherine Zuber, themselves boasting a combined eight Tony Awards. When I saw the George Grosz-ish curtain that introduced us to the new Barlett Sher “Weimar-inspired” production of Verdi’s RIGOLETTO at the Met on New Year’s Eve, I was excited about what lay ahead. Combined with Verdi’s great score, it seemed bound for success. What followed was disappointing, despite some creditable singing and smooth, involved orchestral playing under Daniele Rustioni, with much blame I thought, going to the Sher production.

The Metropolitan Opera will ring in the new year with a new production of Verdi's Rigoletto on December 31, with an additional eight performances January 4-January 29, 2022. See director Bartlett Sher discuss Rigoletto.

Conductor Daniele Rustioni takes the podium to lead a cast starring Quinn Kelsey in his Met role debut as Rigoletto, Rosa Feola as Gilda, and Piotr Beczała as the Duke of Mantua. Varduhi Abrahamyan makes her Met debut as Maddalena, and Andrea Mastroni is Sparafucile.

The North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater's critically acclaimed production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY will be a part of Seattle's 2021-2022 Broadway season. Directed by Bartlett Sher, the North American tour will play The Paramount Theatre from Tuesday, December 28 through Sunday, January 2, 2022. 

The Tony-nominated Lincoln Center production of the classic musical, My Fair Lady, is headed for the West End! Bartlett Sher's loverly production will begin performances at the English National Opera's London Coliseum in May 2022.

CAPA and Broadway in Columbus are proud to present the Columbus engagement of the Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof at the Palace Theatre (34 W. Broad St.) December 14-19 as part of the 2021-22 Broadway in Columbus season.

Returning to lead the cast are Shereen Ahmed as Eliza Doolittle, Laird Mackintosh as Professor Henry Higgins, Leslie Alexander as Mrs. Higgins, Adam Grupper as Alfred P. Doolittle, Kevin Pariseau as Colonel Pickering, Gayton Scott as Mrs. Pearce, and Sam Simahk as Freddy Eynsford-Hill.

There are so many things to like about the season’s revival of Gershwin’s PORGY & BESS, which was new in the 2019-2020 season, before Covid became the “song” that no one wanted to hear. PORGY on the other hand, is the music that everybody can take a liking to, with its fluid combination of opera, Broadway musical and versions of spirituals and Gullah folk music that nobody ever heard before. It has been best known for its songs, which have become “standards” in the Broadway songbook. The stylistic shifts in the complex, yearning, comic score are handled mightily by the Met’s game orchestra under David Robinson.

There's a brief appearance by a group of protest sign carrying suffragettes during a street scene in this Lincoln Center 2018 revival of Lerner and Loewe's classic musical My Fair Lady, and it may be the only bridge between this distinctly old-fashioned early 20th century Edwardian perspective and today's post-feminist world. This revival, nominated for 10 Tony Awards and directed by award winning director Bartlett Sher is a beautiful looking opportunity to experience one of musical theatre's greatest chestnuts.
