After a triumphant fundraising performance of The Producers for the Actors' Fund in 2010, Talk Is Free Theatre (TIFT) followed up with a fundraising, concert performance of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The performance was held on Sunday, February 10 at 8PM at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, Historic Distillery District in Toronto and raised over 30k! Toronto Theatre Critic's take to the stage this Sunday in a special benefit performance of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, with proceeds going to The Actor's Fund. Featuring Kelly Nestruck, Robert Cushman, Glenn Sumi, Sheila McCarthy and Melody A. Johnston, the show also includes BWW's own Kelly Cameron as one of the Snoopy's. In this special feature, she talks about her hidden desire to be force to be reckoned with on-stage, setting the bar a smidge above terrible, and humbly requests that you throw bones in lieu of tomatoes.

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced a $3,000 surplus at its Annual General Meeting this week. "This is a great achievement for the Alliance," says Michael Rubinoff, the newly elected President to the Board of Directors at TAPA. "The surplus will help to move the organization forward to achieving financial stability in order to continually provide meaningful, quality services to our members."
On Monday Oct 29th members of the original Canadian cast of RENT gathered together with graduates from Sheridan College to perform a special benefit concern in support of Fife House. Produced by Michael Rubinoff, the event celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the Canadian production of the Tony Award Winning musical, and was a fantastic evening filled with songs and lots of love. On hand to celebrate were Chad Richardson, Cary Shields, Dominique Roy, Karen LeBlanc, Jenifer Aubry, Gavin Hope and Thom Allison. BWW is thrilled to bring its readers photos from the evening.
On October 29th members of the original Canadian Cast of RENT will join together with Sheridan College students to perform a special 15th Anniversary tribute to Jonathan Larson's musical and raise money for Fife House. BWW is speaking with the alum about what RENT has meant to them and about the special evening. First up is Chad Richardson, who played Mark with the Canadian company and on Broadway. Chad talks about the meaning of the show and how he has applied it to day to day life, about his RENT baby with Cristina Fadale and his hope for future generations of RENT stars.
The 2012 Dora Mavor Moore Awards took place this past Monday night, honouring the best of the best of the past year in Toronto theatre. The evening featured a pre-show VIP reception at The Sony Centre, a gala awards ceremony and the ever popular street party that takes place after the show under the stars on Front St. BWW was on hand to bring you pictures from the event and all the winners!

One of Toronto's favourite musicals bursts back onto the stage this month, as Theatre Sheridan graduates transfer their much loved production of RENT to The Panasonic Theatre. Originally presented last year at the Sheridan campus in Oakville, the show is bigger than ever, and full of heart.
